Aussie Shadow Guard

Hi all, Gruntsky checking in from the Southern Dewbacks Garrison in South Australia.

I've had an RG helmet kit kicking around my shed for a year now and have decided to take the plunge and make myself a Shadow Guard!

I started yesterday by flying the helmet together and bogging up the seam. After the initial bogging, I didn't like the join and rebogged it once again.





Once I was happy with the seam I applied three coats of a satin black spray.


After applying the paint, the seam has become slightly visible, so I'll end up giving it another sand and bog more than likely!

As for the other parts, the armour is on its way to me now from another garrison member in Australia, the undersuit is on its way from the US. I have a friend who has a pair of boots for me and I'll put the belt together this weekend hopefully! TBC!

And a few pics of the belt being made. I've made quite a belts previously, so this was the easy part!






I'll let the dye dry overnight, then put a protective coating over the top to prevent it getting out and crack. After that I'll glue the buckle on as apparently this belt is missing the ever present imperial snap to the left!

On a side note, does anyone know if the image below is an actual reference shot of the shadow guard or an artist's impression? It's a good image, but I don't want to use it as a reference if it is someone's interpretation of a shadow guard.

Re-bogged and re-sanded my bucket as I wasn't happy with the partially visible seam.
Much happier now!
