Hello everyone, I wanted to say that I'm honored to have been invited to join this group by Susana and to be talking to what I would consider to be the elite of the 501st. I was asked to share the helmet that I made recently with all of you. I handcrafted the master and the mold. They're rotocasted out of red-pigmented urethane epoxy resin, clear coated with gloss polyurethane, and have a 1/8" smoked acrylic visor. I can make black Shadow Guard versions as well as a red visor option. If anyone's interested in the build process, check out my article at http://www.kretschmerkreativ.com/archiv ... ard-helmet. If you're interested in purchasing one, there's a link to my store on my website. Cheers to all of you and keep up the good work!

Dylan Saunders Something looks odd from the front.

It could be the slightly shallow bottom of the visor, the sharp edge at the top of the gap right above the visor (could be very slightly thicker and rounded a little more than so sharp, it's possibly sticking out slightly too much, perhaps set too deep), or the overall width of the helmet particularly from above the temple area, around the visor, and then down the helmet (or a combination of all 3, or 1 element effecting each of the others).

Paint work is great, especially with the slight orange undertones at least with the flash, as is the price.

Potentially just a couple of slight fixes to other stuff and great product.

Michael Kretschmer Thank you and I appreciate your attention to detail and the feedback. That's what helps me get better at the craft. It's actually red plastic, so no paint. Just finished off with a gloss coat.

Dylan Saunders Then it's a good selection of plastic, at least in my book (there are a few other ex command staff who've done a fair bit more research) „smile“-Emoticon

Michael Kretschmer When we were doing the photoshoot, I thought the flash would be great to show the quality of the surface finish. But in retrospect, maybe it's better with no flash because it definitely throws some weird orange hues in there. He's what it looks like prior to clear coat. Btw, the sunglasses are a third visor option haha.

Dylan Saunders Slight orange is a good thing, pretty sure they'll pop out in red under decent light (such as a movie set).

I'd say a pic with gloss finish after coat in shade, in direct sunlight, and then your flash will show the different appearance of the colour....Mehr anzeigen

Dominic Zou I agree with Dylan - the front looks odd. It could be a depth of vision issue with the camera lens. Could you take a photo from as far away as possible using maximum optical zoom?

Michael Kretschmer I must apologize, I'm sans DSLR at the moment so my crappy HTC Desire camera will have to do. That's at 20ft. I hope that helps lol.

Dominic Zou No worries, lets wait for a better camera. I am a little worried that similar settings yield a strange front view but everything else looks OK. Because it suggests a proper distortion-free shot may give a normal front view but all other angles might look weird.

Dominic Zou Detachment Leadership should not be promoting any vendor in a public area like this. May I suggest moving all this content into the Detachment Forums, and deleting this entire post.

Dylan Saunders
Dylan Saunders Susana, you're part of the detachment leadership team however aren't picking up potential flaws in this helmet? Instead promoting it?

Maybe it is the camera like Dom wanted to check, however something is not right in the front facing photo. If Stephen who is among the most knowledgeable has talked with the vendor re: this helmet, then surely it can't be the most beutiful as you suggest, hard work or not.

The helmet is a great realisation that I could never do. I still think it needs a little more to push it into approvability.

Happy to be wrong. Happy for the camera to be playing tricks, or even something else.

Had discussions with him back on December 1st. As I said before the over all look is good. He just needs to fix the minor sections that I discussed with him. Thank you for your time.
