r00k's one armed WIP
r00k's one armed WIP
Hey everybody, time to get this show on the road!
As it stands, I have an FP bucket on order (currently showing as shipped, scheduled to be here early June). I also just ordered gloves and a pair of jackboots. I'm doing a TIE reserve pilot at the same time, so I opted for jack boots for now to save on cash, but I plan on getting a pair of red boots eventually.
I plan on picking up outer fabric either this weekend or next, but I'm going to hold off on the inner fabric until the gloves arrive so I can match them as close as possible.
This will be my first sewing project, though I have many friends (and an exceptionally patient wife) who are all very capable on a sewing machine, so I'm expecting success.
I also plan on making a Force Pike, but I am attempting to have the main costume done by San Diego Comic Con, so I may not get the pike done in time.
I'll get some pictures going as soon as I start getting my items in.

Hello Rook. Good luck with your build brother! There are a number of great pike tutorials posted by future and current members in the forums. There are also amazing force pike makers with exceptional quality products. Please let us know if we can help you in any way.

Enjoy!
Re: r00k's one armed WIP
Thanks, guys!
I am doing some errands this weekend to look at fabric and possible force pike parts.
V-cell: The only force pike vendors I've seen are EU only. Are there some I'm missing that sell in the US?
Also, my bucket just went in to customs, so here's hoping for a quick processing. I'm so excited to start working on something so iconic.

Seriously...make your own pike while you wait. It's really easy, not expensive at all, and it gives you costume building skills. It'll also teach you what you want and what you don't want in a future pike if you plan on buying one.
Re: r00k's one armed WIP
Jester, that's the plan, but it was mentioned that there were pike vendors available, so I wanted to look over what they've done for ideas. I'm also a bit of a collector, so the eventuality of me owning several pikes over the next couple of years is pretty likely.
Re: r00k's one armed WIP
Bucket is in, WAY faster than expected! I'll be working on prepping it (Armor party in two weeks), then get it painted. Still on track to get outer cloak fabric this weekend. Gloves should be shipping soon, so I'll look in to inner fabric then.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Have fun at the armor party.
I am looking forward to see your collection of bought and selfmade pikes too.

It's been a while, but I ended up doing my Reserve Pilot first.
Either way, I'm going to be resuming the guard build soon, but first I wanted to catch up on progress. A while back I ordered gloves from IB. at the same time, I ordered pilots gloves, which I think lead to confusion about the guard gloves, resulting in a flaring after the wrist. I communicated the problem and hey were receptive to the feedback. Other than the flaring, the gloves are great. They require quite a few measurements, and they fit amazingly. I'm really happy with them, and I'm sure people will like them as long as you clarify not to have flaring.

I also have quite a few pieces for my pike. I'll get some pics of that soon.
