Just an FYI I ordered a few swatches from Mood Fabrics in New York City recently and it was mostly because of the width, not the cost (because the cost was WAY higher than most places I found).

I was REALLY hoping that this stuff would be what I wanted:


But alas...it wasn't. The velvet is not soft at all, the backing would never allow a drape of any kind, and the fact it has a 63" width just didn't come close to mattering. The only positive thing....the color was great.

I also got a sample of this, and this. Both were not very plush and VERY shiny. Add to the fact they were $30/yard and heck no!

Actually that price point is to be expected for that grade of velvet
