fabric question
Is the fabric for the inner robe required to be velvet material? The main 501st reference only says dark burgandy or purple cloth. Would a heavy cotton duck or similar material be acceptable? What are the recommendations of anyone would be much appreciated.

Re: fabric question
Velvet, not velveteen?
I'd like to be sure to get it right this time
, because I'm planning to make new inner robes... eventually (after the trip to Florida, and if my e-mail to the GML ever gets some kind answer.)
I made mine before I knew about this forum, and I followed what is written in the CRL (Burgundy or dark purple cloth thawb). The text of the CRL says cloth, the picture could be velveteen, but it really doesn't look like velvet.
Are there any plans to publish a new CRL? I know the front page of this website says there are, but I don't know how long that message has been there or if it's still pertinent. It's just a bit confusing for new members when the CRL says one thing and we get told something else on this forum. An updated CRL might help future members avoid much wasted work and fabric...

Re: fabric question
Are the outer Robes at least Velvet. If Yes then your good to go. Not going to break your back for the underrobe unless is is Crushed Velvet.

Velvet or Velveteen for the outer robes... the inner robes have more flexibility... like LT said though... no crushed velvet.LuciousTalvloinne wrote:Are the outer Robes at least Velvet. If Yes then your good to go. Not going to break your back for the underrobe unless is is Crushed Velvet.

Re: fabric question
Thanks guys, I'm nearly complete. I went with the burgundy velvet for the under robes. Burgundy suede cloth for the gloves and neck seal, black boots for now and forcepike completed. I tried finding the red for the outer locally but had to go on internet to get the right color. I am anxiously awaiting the red to come in the mail so I can finish it and offically join.

Re: fabric question
Great to hear you are almost complete. One suggestion, if you haven't already made the neck seal with the Burgundy suede is that you might want to use a different material that is more wash friendly. Neck seals can get pretty wet and sweaty under a helmet and you probably want something you can easily throw into a washing machine after a troop.

Re: fabric question
