Geo's RotJ RG W.I.P.

Post by Geohazard »

This thread is where I'll be posting pics of progress with my RG kit for the Golden Gate Garrison. I'm about halfway there, and will update as soon as I'm satisfied with the look of pieces/proofs. My helmet, a FP bucket, is on its way. Boots have been acquired from a custom boot maker (send me a PM to find out where). The outer robe proof has been completed, lining has been acquired/dyed, and the thawb material has been acquired/dyed. I also have material (burgundy ultrasuede) on hand for gloves.

I'm still looking for suitable velvet for the Outer Robe.

Unfortunately, I don't own the pattern, it is a custom-tailored jobbie mocked up by my seamstress. She does stellar work!

I had a fitting today! We have achieved velvet, and the thawb is well on its way to being finished.

Lightweight rayon velvet, 54" width:

Are you planning on dying the inner robe? It currently is not the correct colour...

The color is a bit off in the photo, but yes, the linen will be burgundy in the final product.

I've just received some very good news.

The velvet for my outer robe has arrived, has been cut, and will be assembled by sunday night's fitting! :trsuit:

So excited! Things are coming together swimmingly!
The FP box only had a slight buckle at the top. It's a very good thing that I ordered from FP, because he makes oversized helmets, and I barely fit into the pinch point as it is.

I can has bukkit?

The fitting went well, my robes are coming out nicely, the lightweight rayon velvet of the outer robe wears well and the linen of the thawb feels and looks great! The next step is to hem and overdye the linen to a darker shade of burgundy, add the lining to the outer cloak, and hem it with black satin.
