RaiderNick's RG WIP

Post by RaiderNick »

So, I received my helmet today from FP. Luckily the box was in pretty good condition and there was no damage to the helmet. It fits my head perfectly so I'm glad I went with the larger FP right away.

On a side note, I'm having an issue with Gio, and yes I did post on the clone boards. It looks like I won't be getting the boots for quite a while if at all so I'm going to ask here. I would prefer not to use my jack boots while I wait for the proper boots. I've been checking around the forums here and all the links for red boots are either years old and dead, or aren't available in my size. If anyone has a source for a mens size 11.5 US for red suede boots I would appreciate it. I want to pick up a pair fairly cheap just incase/when/if I ever get the boots from Gio.

Love the helmet, looks just like mine did before the finish work. No help on the boots for you. I've recently gotten lots of strange looks from local shoe stores when I go in and say, "I'm looking for women's size 16 red boots....yeah...it's for a costume...I swear!"

What I find that helps is to show a picture on my phone first then ask for the boots Lol Meeting with a boot maker here in Houston later tonight to see what kind of boot he can make

RaiderNick,

Great to hear that your RG helmet came in. Sorry to hear about the issues with the boots that you ordered. I'll try to find the info from the site that I ordered my red suede boots for my RG and send you a PM.

Okay just got out from the boot shop they are going to first see if they can get the red suede
and how much of it they can get that will determin the price of the boot. I will hear back on that next week
there was this one boot that I wanted to ask about

With this style of boot would we be able to keep this heal to be aproved by the 501st or should I see about getting it
cut down some, the inside of the boot will have the inside red zipper and the other side will be a solid suede piece, for the top of the boot we can make it go up the leg more if need be. any input is welcome

Well, it is specifically said that the heel should be as conservative as possible, that one looks a little tall so it may need to be cut down. Also, the toe of the boot doesn't look pointy enough, it looks more rounded. As for the height of the boot, I have no idea as you really aren't going to see them anyway, especially the upper portions of the boot.

I'm actually leaning towards no on those black boots, not for the heel or the toe, but rather the elastic and stitching. As per the CRL, boots should have a conservative heel, and no fancy/ornamental stitching. There are many boot options that do not have this elastic (jackboots, western boots) that are better suited than the ones you have shown above.

I believe he was thinking of using the boot as a base and covering it (including the elastic material) with red suede material. As was mentioned, the heels appear to be too tall and if you are going to take the time and effort of covering a boot with red suede material, I would strongly recommend selecting one with the correct heel height and pointed toes. I'm sure there are a bunch of inexpensive boots that would work perfectly as a base.

Got my force pike today. Still waiting on the robes and have no idea what's going on with the shoes still.
