left handed issue
So, I have been wanting to make my royal guard a ROTJ one, but I am left handed, and worry that not having an opening on that side will lead to problems that I could easily avoid by going with the ROTS two opening one. Are there any left handed ROTJ people out there? If so, is it a big deal?
Just curious on whether it would be worth it. I really want to go the ROTJ route, but I don't want it to be so annoying that I hate wearing it because I can't easily do things.
Random question, I know. I might be over thinking it.

Re: left handed issue
Just for clarification, ROTS is actually 4 slits.... 2 slits is AOTCTheMightyZan wrote:So, I have been wanting to make my royal guard a ROTJ one, but I am left handed, and worry that not having an opening on that side will lead to problems that I could easily avoid by going with the ROTS two opening one. Re: left handed issue
If you think it would be an issue, just go with the ATOC Royal Guard at first. Worst case, you change your mind down the road. Then you sew the left side shut, add the spikey rasp on your force pike, and get new gloves to be a ROTJ Royal Guard.
Personally, I don't think its that big of a deal to be left handed and have only the slit on the right side. You can still reach over with your left through the slit or drape the front right portion of your slit to over hang your left arm when you need to grab things with your left hand (assuming you have a decent inner robe and an outer robe liner).

It shows what I'm talking about...

Haha. It shows how much I have researched the others. AOTC then. I do really like the ROTJ robes best.... Too bad I can't just switch the sides, heh.
I don't mind reaching through, I just don't know if I want to walk around with my outer robe pulled back all the time if I am somewhere like a con and want to have easy reach access to buying stuff.

Re: left handed issue
(At least for me) Most of the time you're trooping, therefore mostly in character. I'm ROTJ and right handed (making holding the pike easier I guess), however if I need to break character and give high fives to kids etc... It's easy just to reach through and pull back the robes.
Shopping at cons? I do it when I'm not scheduled on, and out of costume. Then again, I tend not to take my bucket off in view of the public, even at cons (personal preference at cons).
You can quite easily put your pike down on your shoe, slide your left hand across to hold the pike, and pick things up with the right hand.
Getting up steps I tend to just use both hands, pulling the robes back and walking straight up
I reckon you'll be fine, go with what you have a passion for!

Re: left handed issue
Interesting question. I'm right handed so I can't say for sure, but you use your right hand to hold your Force Pike and that's really it. As mentioned above, There are times when you use the pike in a 2-handed manner. I don't really think it's a big deal, but we're not talking about a slit on the left hand side that *I* have to deal with.

Re: left handed issue
The awesomeness of being left handed is that I do get to think about it. I believe I am going to try out the ROTJ and if it's just too much trouble (It's not that I can't do things with my right hand, it's that it's awkward) I'll just change it into one from AOTC. I know it's a weird thing to seemed worried about, but hey, should be use to it right? Nothing is for left handed people.

Re: left handed issue
Go to a Walmart (or other store), pick up a 4' pool cue, hold the bottom of it in your right hand and the stick against your shoulder. If you can manage that for more than 30 seconds without fear of dropping it I think you'll be just fine
