Rubie's Helmet (picture heavy)

I don't want to ruin my helmet, either! I might check and see what I can find at an auto store to just tint it darker, like you said. Is there a particular tint percentage or something to get? So you can still see out? But I guess if it's made for a car you'd have to be able to see out anyways...

I checked with the FL approval liaison and he recommended the darker tint, too. So I think I'll aim for that for now.

Hi Just also wondering about acetate. I have a sheet left over from when I took a graphic design class, the acetate was for use with airbrush painting. It's about the same darkness, or maybe a little darker, as the visor that is already in the new Rubies helmet and is flexible. Would using the acetate be approved for making the visor area darker? Now I just have to find that sheet of acetate or was it acryllic in a solid sheet form?

That's the same helmet I ended up with as well. I ended up taking out the visor (for the same reason) and put in mesh to help with ventilation problems. As for it sitting low on the shoulders (same problem) I put a piece of square foam in the top of it. It doesn't sit as far down on my shoulders and it keeps it from sliding around since there is so much room in it

So, you didn't have a problem when unscrewing the visor then? Maybe I'll tint first then change the visor out later...

Just for clarification, mesh screen is not approvable for membership according to the CRL... It is also not acceptable for cannon events.

No it was very easy to take out and replace


Stripes, I have the appropriate materials for membership and cannon events but for what troops we do have I use the mesh which is just as easily removed

So did anyone actually try to unscrew the visor yet I have not had a second to go look at mine to see if it is rivets or screws.

I found someone who sells the red mirror tinted acrylic in sheets for a good price on Ebay is this the same thing that everyone else has been useing?

I replaced my visor with a red mirror tinted football visor. Had no problems doing so either. The sheets you are looking at are extremely thin and may not stand up to the rigours of training. I'll see if I can dig up a link for the visor I used.

I've just buy a mirror football replacement. Then, as my visor was kind of glued with black silicon, I spent 2 nice hours taking off that mess with big care.
Now one question:
What do you use to fix mirror lens on place? I mean fixing it in a way thats allows you to change it easily when you need to use canon ones ?
