Is there a good source for acquiring just the visor, or is it necessary to buy the whole football helmet? If the helmet's the way to go, where does one get that?LuciousTalvloinne wrote:

You can just get the visor online at numerous retailers. No need to spend $150+ on a full football helmet that you won't have a use for...Fettophile wrote:Is there a good source for acquiring just the visor, or is it necessary to buy the whole football helmet? Yeah I was able to buy just the visor and then attach it to the helmet. Look at my display picture and you can see how it looks.
Re: Rubie's Helmet (picture heavy)
So, I got my Rubies today and it's pretty nice, especially since it's a Rubies. There is a gap between the helmet on the chest as was posted earlier, which does make the helmet slide forward a bit. But I believe that could be fixed with some padding (such as the padding that some people here seem to add to get a bigger look out of their robes.
The visor is attached via screws though. I'm not sure if taking the screws out will do anything to the plastic since I can't tell whether they are directly in the plastic or not.

I think the helmet looks great. I'd love to see it next to a SA fiberglass helmet and a Don Post Helmet (as well as any others out there) for a size comparison. As for how the visor is attached...it's attached by screws? Screwed from the inside into the actual helmet? REALLY?!?!?! (I know it is, I see it on the picture on page one) I find that really interesting. I imagine it should be very easy to then replace the visor then. Hope so!

I didn't see screw heads, I thought they were rivets, but I'll have to look again. See if I can fit a little hand screwdriver in there and see if any of them turn.

Let us know how you fare. I'm too chicken to mess around with it.

Re: Rubie's Helmet (picture heavy)
Why not use window tinting in the back...problem solved!
Re: Rubie's Helmet (picture heavy)
I recommend the window tint (I'll have to check what I used in my clone helmet at home) because it's easy to use, it'll stay on but if you want to remove it you can, and even if they are screws and not rivets you run the risk of any movement up there messing up the paint on the outside of the helmet. I really do think a small thing of window tint from an automotive store would do you wonders.
Re: Rubie's Helmet (picture heavy)
That may be a better solution for those like me who don't want to risk their investment. Maybe later I'll be able to get a kit for my second helmet and add a mirror visor.
