Re: ROTJ DP helmet
There is nothing wrong with the Don Post helmet other than they do fit smaller and do have warping issues in extreme heat. I have a DP and it fits, just no room for fans or anything else... Others can't get past the cheeks. If your head is bigger than a 7 1/4 hat size, I'd avoid it as I doubt it would fit well...
Re: ROTJ DP helmet
Looks good. Seems like a Don Post helmet won't work for me

Re: ROTJ DP helmet
I've got a DP helmet and it does fit me. There's a slight squeeze at the cheeks and then it slips right on.
What, precisely, are the "usual mods?"
I understand filling the embossed text at the rear and sanding it smooth. I also understand painting the helmet to match the outer robe.
I don't understand the visor mod. It seems as if the lens is removed and the visor opening is enlarged?

Re: ROTJ DP helmet
The area of the visor that needs to be modified is shown in this picture:

You need to remove the thin visor that comes stock with the DP helmet as well as a significant amount of plastic. The new visor is installed INSIDE the helmet once the opening has been given it's proper shape.

Thank you. That makes sense.

Re: ROTJ DP helmet
it's really not that bad, a dremel tool a couple good files and patience and you can cut the visor portion out without any trouble at all.
Re: ROTJ DP helmet
It looks to be a simple modification. Once I get a new visor I'll have at it.
