How long should boots be?

Post by candychic125 »

Hi All,

I have a question about boots this time. On the 501st website, they say the boots should cover your ankles. Does that mean they can go beyond your ankles? Like up to your knees? This may seem like a silly question, because part of that would be covered by the inner robe anyway, but I just wanted to check.

Does anyone have pictures of how far their inner robe comes down, by the way?

Also, when they say ornamental stitching, what exactly does that mean? Does that mean like embroidered flowers or something? Or any stitching at all?

And one last thing... pointed toe. What? :( I don't understand what that means. Is it like the sharp wedge or just pointed as in not square?

I've found several red boots on ebay. Would you please look over them and tell me if they're okay?

Thanks in advance.

Oh btw, are elbow length red leather gloves okay?

The first and third options you have posted would probably be the best. I'd avoid the studded ones as the studs could be a pain to the rest of the costume. As for length, as long as they are over top of your ankles in the event your robes get lifted (I would say best bet is mid shin minimum if possible) you should be good to go.

Ornamental stitching would be anything that isn't actually required to hold the boot together. This can take the shape of flowers, stars, etc....

A pointed toe would refer to one that is not round (think cowboy boot for pointed toe)

The best bet with your inner robe for length is about a inch to an inch and a half off the floor. This helps keep you safe while walking around, but also helps prevent things from being seen underneath in the event that your outer cloak gets blown open (wind can be such a pain).

As for elbow length red leather gloves, I wouldn't see any problems with them as long as the red is close to matching in colour to your robes.

I like the third link the best out of the boots.
On the gloves elbow length is fine. As they are worn on the inside of the inner robes. Its only the mid arm of the leather ROTS gloves that are worn on the outside.

Oh I was thinking of doing the ROTS robe. I keep getting them mixed up. That's the one with the four slits, right? Are the red boots okay for that? or did they have to be black?

The only one that requires black boots is the AOTC guard (the one I do) that has 2 arm slits. the ROTS for the gloves like Lucious has said is mid forearm overtop of the inner robes.
