Help On DH-17

Post by Red Diamond »

My question is: I just bought a Hasbro Rebel Trooper Blaster (DH-17) and I would like to know in detail how I go about modifying the Hasbro Blaster to make it 501st acceptable. Please Help.

Here is a link to photos of mine along with steps....can't find the thread on these boards but I could swear I reposted it here after the crash.

I'm not sure what is exactly required for Legion standards, but this is what I did to mine.

1. chop off the plunger, fill the hole.
2. remove the dart holders
3. shave/sand off the Star Wars logo and various copyright info.
4. fill screw holes (you can leave the battery cover one accessible if you want to keep the light).
5. paint it black...leave the clear scope part clear

There is some debate about whether the whole gun should be black, or if the silver barrel can stay silver..and whether the silver cutaway (just after the barrel) should be black or silver. The argument is that in the Crimson Empire comic, where the DH-17 is depicted as being used by Kir Kanos, the gun is all black. My counterargument is, the artwork in Crimson Empire is so crappy that you can barely identify the gun he is holding as a DH-17. So why then, would the comic book colorist's choice of all black in the 2 panels the gun appears, therefore make All-Black the standard?

So...IMO, if you like silver, I say go silver, if you like black, go black.

Did the same on mine with one difference, I kept a tiny part of the plunger and attached a D-ring.
With a fully functional dart mechanism, you can do a lot of fun stuff to others in plastic. :)
This is from last December, Sci-Fi convention in Stockholm.
