Help finding Shadowguard boots?

As seen in the video game "The Force Unleashed". Now an approved costume!

Help finding Shadowguard boots?

Post by Hammer of Hell »

I'm assuming my usual TIE Pilot boots won't do the trick here, the CRL mandates knee-high. Anyone have any decent leads on where to get some fitting ones?

The Guards use standard (Saga pattern) IOC officer boots.

Officer boots are notoriously hard to get right, and it depends largely on your legs and what you want to spend...

I have big calves and so I had to order custom made officer boots with a zipper in the 'spine' from Crowprops -- mine were pretty good fit but very thin leather. But a lot of people have had hit or miss experiences with Crowprops in general.

The main issue is that the most accurate boots are German or English horse riding boots. And those aren't built for people with muscular or large legs, they're built for people with a jockey-type build.

Keep Trooping boots are nice but won't work unless you have thin legs (probably the closest out there to actual riding boots that aren't equestrian). Real equestrian boots will double or triple the price.

I do not recommend Hessen (which rarely gets EUR-US sizes equivalencies correct), but some people in IOC have had good luck with Noirtide.com (that don't use a zipper).

Alternatively, especially for cost savings, you could look for surplus Russian or German military boots (riding not jackboots), which could work especially if you can try them on first. Also, don't buy boots that have hobnails -- you'll regret it.

Cheers,
-Tom

I want ot add my grain of salt on this. I ordered real russian parade boots for my IOC, and they were very, very small calf-wise, but the ones from KeepTrooping were perfect, even on the big size. There is a chart on his website, and if you write to him, he would be able to help with sizing.
