Boot alterations

Ok guys Im not quite up to speed on what can and cant be done to the boots . I have found 501st boots that are local but they don't fit me ! Others in the local troop are using them as officer boots so I know they are ok but while my feet will fit in them size 11, my calf muscles or to big for the top of the boot. So I have been in touch with a cobbler and he can put a wedge of leather in the back seam of the boot but it will look like a 'Y" instead of a normal seam. Would the boot still be 501st acceptable ?...The 'Y' insert would be 6" long and 2" wide at the top.

Should be ok. Some parts will be covered by the elastic that will hold the shins.
