What do you mean, velvet for the outer robe and gabardine for the inner robe ?

I found this fabric in another build thread, for inner robe :

http://www.syfabrics.com/View.aspx/100- ... -/3760/258

So it would be acceptable even if it's not real velvet ? I don't have a lot of sources of velvet near my home, so I must buy on internet. The first link I posted for inner robe velvel is sold out, so I must find something else.

Yeah that was the fabric I purchased. Very nice feel to it, and it's got a much lighter feel to it than I was expecting. It's worth the extra money because if you sweat (and you will sweat under 3 layers of velvet and a plastic/fiberglass helmet with no built-in ventilation), cotton velvet is machine washable. If you get synthetic inner robe you'd have to hand clean it with a steamer and/or take into a dry cleaner.

Their shipping to Ottawa was fantastic, taking only a few days to arrive from the US. Even after the weak exchange rate on US Dollar it was still cheaper than buying from within Canada.

I have a question : what is the difference between my case and this one ? http://www.forcepike.net/forum/viewtopi ... =11&t=1835

I'm an idiot with fabrics and I'm not sure to see the difference. He wanted to use gabardine for the inner robe and you said it was ok, and it's a ROTJ build.

No problem :) It was contradictory information so I wanted to clear that out. Thanks !

And for the outer robe the interior must be burgundy too ? how do you do that ? you sew it around the edges with the same fabric as the inner robe ?

How much (ballpark) fabric is needed of red and burgundy ? We will be at least 5 persons to order at the same time, it would be sad to not have enough for everybody :)

It will really depend on height and shoulders/width of each person. I met with the seamstress that I would be using and she measured me up and told me how much of each to order. She added in some extra material for both. I got 7 or 8 (I forget) yards of outer robe material and 12 yards of inner robe material. The inner fabrics is also used to line the outer robe and is also used for the sash. Additionally, for myself, I'm making my gloves with the inner material as well.

Make sure you get enough material! If you have to order more at a later date, it will likely not match the material you have and there could be a noticeable color difference. Dye lots for fabric can and do vary anywhere from a little to a lot.
