Forcepike build question

Post by Artemis Entreri »

Saw these at wal-mart and thought they might be a good start fora forcepike. would love some opinions on this. If not I'll go with the pool stick i have seen a lot of people go with.

The original forcepikes in ROTJ where based off of ski poles. Along with the rods in the power reactor.

I was leaning more toward AOTC because i was able to find an actual pattern for the outer robe, but when I first decided I wanted to be a member of the Guard I was leaning toward ROTJ. I've just had a really tough time locating red suede boots in my search . though i have only done a minimal search here on the forums.

Depending on your shoe size and such there are options that can be found.

If you want to go for the ROTJ you can use black boots like mentioned in the current CRLs, see below

Boots
For 501st approval:
Black, texture-less, leather/synthetic leather (non glossy) “Jack” boots", squared toe (rounded toe in ladies styles are acceptable), with a relatively conservative heel, no visible straps/buckles, or ornamental stitching; that reach high enough to cover the wearer's ankles are acceptable as a minimum due to the difficulty in acquiring red boots.
**OPTIONAL** Crimson red suede boots, pointed toe, with a relatively conservative heel. There are no visible straps, buckles, or ornamental stitching. The boots cover the wearer's ankles.

Otherwise you prefer the red boots go for that http://www.imperialboots.com/product/guardian/

Ty both for your responses! Lucious also suggested some nice boots. Guess now i need to look for a good blueprint for the ROTJ forcepike and see if i can scrounge up a pattern for the Rotj Guard costume. My bet friend is will to sew them for me if i find patterns. also perhaps while i have both of you you could clear up something about the gloves because i see a lot of people suggesting satin gloves from older post but the requirements for 501st are worded

For 501st approval:
Burgundy or wine coloured cloth or suede gloves with no extraneous straps, buckles or ornamental stitching. The gloves are to cover the wearer's wrists. Gloves that reach the middle of the forearm are preferable. Gloves are worn underneath the inner robe sleeves.
Shiny, Silk, Satin or Leather Gloves are NOT accepted.

Not sure about these for the pike. The "shock absorbers" will stick out. I started with the pool cue and later made multiples with ski poles found at garage sales and clearance sections. The ski poles worked better for me. If they are cheap enough and you've got the desire, experiment with them.

I'd recommend using a ski pole as your base but actually using a non-painted one as you'll have a lot of sanding, or worse, painting, to do otherwise. The large round protector thingy on the bottom of the pole (clearly I don't ski) can easily be dremeled off and you're left with the emitter area for either version of the pike (ROTJ needs rasps and Ep 2 and 3 need rings) which can go right there. Check out Craigslist, classifieds, or even ski resorts (if you're in the area) to see if they have used ones for cheap. I picked up my pair for $5 at a yard sale.
