yeah saw 1 inch on amazon as well but nobody in town has it in stock. Go figure. Am wondering if a bit of electric tape over the o ring might help it slide over better. Might try that otherwise its buy new stuff. Ghagh!! :geez: :shoot:

I didn't use o-rings, but rather pvc for my handles but I coated them in spray Plasti-Dip and I think that might work in your case as well. It would still keep the o-ring shape while giving a rubber coating. Just tape off the top and the bottom, spray it and remove the tape. If it doesn't work it'll just peal right off.

Thanks guys! I decided it couldn't hurt to try the electrical tape to hold the rings in place. Nothing really to lose there. Gotta give the wife credit for suggesting it. It actually worked pretty well! :splode:

If you're looking for larger heat shrink, hit up Sayal in Burlington or Cambridge.

They carry all sorts of heat shrink in tons of sizes and you should be able to find something that works. ;)

Dart thanks! Might well have to check that out. The 3/4 worked with the electrical tape over the o rings which held them in place pretty well. Came out good though kind of wish I figured out a cap on the ends and all. Thing is I already hit up Cabbage to get two really nice ones but wanted to just go and try building a couple since I had the ski poles on hand. It's not coming out too bad though still trying to sort out the end cap on it. What I wanted to use won't fit on unless I can figure out something on it but working on it. Still got some fastening to do and painting and all but it's close. Likely get the first one done this weekend. I think honestly the second one will come out a lot better because I learn from mistakes/issues making the first one. :D

SO pics to come and all but got the grips on and using a bit of goop to seal things up real well on where the female adapter meets pommel since it was not quite flush as I would have liked. Once that is dry will tape and paint it all black there which will work well. Painting the rasp for the top today to get it that goldenish color (using bronze since gold is too bright I saw!) Once done there will be able to get that on and in position as well and locked in. It's coming along.

Thanks Gruff... its coming. Not looking too bad but the piece I wanted for the top tip won't work unfortunately. Ski pole just that bit too big can't get it down onto it which SUCKS! Gotta try and sort that out, maybe a way to stretch it some to fit or something. :aww: It is getting there though.

Maybe sanding the pole down will work.
