Re: Opinions needed! (Boots, gloves, draping...)
Thank you for stopping by my thread, how nice of you to ask! Here's my current status:
Gloves
Solved, I love my gloves!
Boots
Solved, they are a bright crimson and really comfortable. The sole is a bit light so I am darkening it with black marker pen on the sides, which seems to be staying/not rubbing off.
Forcepike
I have my fishing pole, some fiberglass filler and glue. I still need to get some screw threading, as I intend to cut the pole into three, and insert screw threading so I can unscrew for transport purposes. Have not found a suitable tip (kids syringes here in Sweden are a lot more square), nor a good pommel (we tend to have combined hot/cold taps here, so no tap or shower handle seems to be right). Not yet sure how to solve these issues - next plan is to see what my sister can find in the UK.
Outer robes
I found my perfect velveteen, but the shop does not have enough in stock. They're contacting their suppliers but I haven't heard back from them yet, so may have to go for another velveteen (really hope not).
Inner robes
I've got an amazingly soft and great burgundy linen but it is very expensive, so am researching to find something a bit more reasonably priced.
The patterns/mockups for both robes are in progress while I solve my fabric problems. I will have to consider my shoulderpads very carefully because I am in the bobble-head dangerzone.

Thank you for your update Keyla. Don't give up!
These costumes take a long time to make and figure out, but the return is 100 fold on the effort you put in. We are here to help and if you get stuck at some point, all you need to do is ask. I would recommend contacting Theo Cabbagefarmer and ask him for some guidance on how to solve the force pike issues. Trust me...he is very good.

Hey Keyla,
have you thought about using a 2part pool cue for your forcepike?
I've made one myself for travelling and it works great.
It also has the added benefit of already having the screw together parts in it.
Here is a photo before I started next to another of my pikes.

And here shows how it breaks down for transport.

Small parenthesis to say: Beautiful work Redpaint! Stunning force pike and incredibly ingenious.

Try using black shoe polish. It can take a few goes to get the desired color, but it won't come off.Boots

Beautiful pikes, redpaint
Gruff, that's a neat tip! I'll give it (several) goes!

Re: Opinions needed! (Boots, gloves, draping...)
Any tips on where you found the boots and gloves you ultimately went with? I've been looking through the forum and can't find any guidance on where I should start.
