Darth Shu's ROTJ build

So, I've been a cadet since February, so I'm still kind of new at all of this. I'm building the ROTJ Royal Guard, and so far I have the minimum required shoes (black lower calf height dress boots from JC Penny), my force pike (thanks to Jester), and now officially my soft parts (from FP). Saving up for my helmet so I can at least graduate and start trooping (and not squiring, even though that's fun to do!). Then I can save up for the right kind of foot ware, and then possibly start on a new force pike or new gloves. But, until then, I figured I'd post up in here to let you all criticize, comment, compliment, or whatever to my current progress! Hope you enjoy!

I'm no expert but in my layman's mind it looks like a nice costume.

I don't think luck is necessary so I'll just cross my fingers for you.

Of all the waiting done during a build this, the approval wait, is by far the longest.

Two things I am seeing...

1. the colour of the helmet compared to the colour of the outer cloak is significantly different
2. The visor is not dark enough (if this is a stock rubies, the visor will need replacing)

In the outside (natural lighting) pictures the color matches much more for the helmet and the robes. I also tinted the visor to a 5% black limo tint, so a lot of my "official approval" photos you can't see my facial features at all. Not sure if you were just looking at the "before" pictures or what? But with a 5% tint there is no way it's too light. I'm not trying to argue or anything, I'm just curious if you happened to see the pictures with the full costume on, because the visor on those is definitely not see-through. And in the natural light the helmet and robes match pretty decently, I thought.

I think the visor issue could be some of the pics on page 2 and 3, where some in particular show your eyes and bridge of the nose. It's possible these were taken before the tint?

Yes, those were taken before the tint. The ones on Page 1 are the most recent (depending on how you have them filtered out at the top of the page where you can click on "most recent"). If it's most recent, then the ones on page 1 are the finished product with the tinted visor.

It mostly depens of how the light falls how the buckets and the outer robes match togehter. The best light for that is outside a sunny day, I guess.
That´s one reason why the royal guard costume makes me mad

Yeah... after I saw the pictures you could tell a clear difference in the natural sunny day light outside pictures compared to inside false lighting, even though blinds were open. The close-ups for action shots and stuff with the flash on weren't bad, but there was one really good one where I was outside and the sun came out at just the right time. I also posted (I believe on pg. 2) pictures of natural lighting inside comparing the helmet to my robe as well and they look spot on. My advisor has those pictures as well, so him and the other advisors know and can see the difference from outside light compared to inside lighting, and they all know that outside lighting was best. But, the reason not all of them were taken outside was because here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (US) on the day I had them taken (this past Thursday, the 13th), it was sooooo incredibly windy and frigid out that the photographer couldn't hold the camera still and he was going numb from the wind so we moved them inside for his sake. It felt good to me being outside I couldn't really feel the wind, and the costume is so super warm that it actually felt great outside to me... just not to the guy taking the pictures
