For my first 501st costume, I wanted to build the pike myself (forgive the typo's)
First: the end-cap; I know most people use ObiWan style end-caps
I chose to raid the local DIY-store: a head for a water valve

To that, I added a few part from the electronics department; the goal: to create some space between the enc-cap and the bottom of the pike
on the last picture you'll see the original part on the right side and the shortened/drilled version to the left

to round of the "spacer", I used a miniature base from my miniature wargames hobby

added some plastic seals, to extend the part a bit

after some gluing and assembeling

to create the actual pike, I went to Decathlon (a well known sport-equipment store in Europe) and bought a skiing pike
I removed the handle and ring with a Dremel tool
After which I mounted the end-cap onto the pike

While being in the sports store, I also bought a pair of handles for MTB bikes (foam type)
I removed the shaped ends on both sides on one handle, and 1 shaped end on the other

I mounted a small piece of PVC pipe between the handles.
Unfortunaly the pipe was a little bit wider than the pike; I solved this by adding some powertape on the pike and then gluing the the pipe to the tape

after all this, the bottom half of the pike looks like this.

The top handle could use some roundover.
I've searched a while how to achive this, without have to grind or cut some shapes.
The solution came rather suddenly: a small funnel
I've cut off the top and slided it over the pike.
To add some stability, I filled the funnel piece with some resin.

next piece: the top
I took 2 pieces of 3mm cardboard and glued them together.
After that I cut out the spikey shape
I've made a mould from that and casted 4 pieces in resin.

Because the actual top is somewhat wider that the pîke itself, I needed to add some thickness to the top.
To achive this, I used a small syringe (5ml), cut off the tip and rounded the handle (so it was round and not oval, like the original part)

this part was then glued with 5-minute epoxy and filled with resin
the spikes were also glued with the epoxy and any gaps filled with some sculpting mass.

completed, my Forcepike looks like this

And finally paint the whole thing
