Helmet on ebay

Post by DarthShu »

Hey Guards! I'm looking at purchasing a helmet on e-bay and was wondering if anyone had any success or complaints about the seller. His e-bay name is steviebxxx and he's selling a couple of nice looking helmets and he claims that they are 501st approved, anyone have any insight to how his product is? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-Roy ... TQ:GB:1123 That's the link for the helmet (please don't outbid me!!! Plllleeeeeeease???? :D ) Any opinions let me know. Thank you!

I have never seen this person listing anything before. As with anything on Ebay it is buyer beware. Just because something is advertised as being 501st approved does not mean that it will be. In the end for a royal guard helmet, it comes down to does the colour match your outer cloak, does the visor obscure your face so it isn't visible, and does it sit right on you. Without this, it's hard to say 100% on anything. It is a nice looking paint job but again, looks can be deceiving.

From the second profile shot, the visor looks like it's going to be a little too transparent, but that is a fairly easy fix. Everything else looks decent. But like Stripes said, it's buyer beware on ebay.

Thanks for the input! I do know it's buyer beware, and that's why I hate buying from someone that may be unknown. I would love to have a helmet for that reasonable of a price, but it's almost too good to be true. I agree about the visor, it does look to be a little too transparent, that's one of the things I'm hesitant on, but I do know that I can get visors and easily replace it. I was hoping that FenixProps would have a helmet up for sale, but they currently do not. I got my soft parts from them and were super pleased with them! But, their helmets are also really expensive (I know, you get what you pay for), but I know the quality would be top notch. I may have to pass on this unknown seller just to play it safe :) Thanks again for the input though!!!

Hi mate.

I have seen this guys work in person a couple of times and they are stunning lids and you certainly will not go wrong by getting one from this seller.
He's sold a few to UKG members and even the one and only UKG Shadow Guard lid came from him.

Go for it.

I bought mine from him and even when it doesnt matches the colour of you cloak you can repaint its.
Its fits even bigger heads and has a red coloured visor installed.
Maybe you must darken the visor a little bit but else i say its good work.
My helmet fall from about 1,60m height and bounced several times over a stone floor.
Nothing but scratches.
So i say go for it.

Glad that you all have had good experiences! I did bid on it, and lost it at the very last second. He has a couple more up for sale, so I'll give it another try :) Thank you very much for your input!!! :D Great appreciated and thanks for making me feel better about bidding on it and worrying about the quality :) Now I don't really have to worry as much and can breathe easier. Thanks again!!!

Hello again.

I do believe that the seller will/can make the helmets to order.

I´ve the same bucket (that´s my switch bucket) and I join my previous speaker mind you could go for it. Good price/effort relation. Also a good base to revise parts if necessary.

I got mine from phoenix props and I have to do a wee bit of work to it. It had a few high and low spots, so bogging it out, then undercoat and paint. I got his unpainted one for this reason. He was great to deal with and very good quality. For the little I spent on bog, undercoat and paint I would recommend doing it that way. You also get the satisfaction of doing it yourself too.
