Neck folds - how?

Hello,

it was suggested to me a while back that the way the robe drapes under the neck is screen accurate, but I can't figure out how to do it at all:



And, to be honest, i can't find a single photo of anyone with it looking this good / having it at all!

Any ideas how to get this distinctive flow? My cloak joins with three poppers along the neck line but I'm happy to alter it for this to work.

I believe you would need to put a couple of pleats. I tried to get it but I had enough trouble trying to get mine to drape properly.

I did have this with my v.1 robes, but I found that the weight of the fabric pulled on the seams and stretched far too much to keep it looking nice. I abandoned it for my v.2 robes in favour of the flat front for the cleaner look.

There is nothing in the CRL that requires this. If anyone suggests that it is required, send them our way so that they can be corrected on this.

No, no, not required at all (I am cleared) but it was "suggested" to me once as being a potential improvement and I do kinda like it but I do agree, the weight of the fabric really makes it hard to get this effect.

I am of the belief that ROTJ Guards should be required to have them (even though my current robes lack them) simply because all the Guards on screen have them. I'm not sure how they're done as my fabric skills are on par with a 5 week old cat's. That being said, the folds aren't required, nor will they be for the foreseeable future.

That pictures shows the folds very impressiv. I degree that this must be required in the future for the robe. My seamstress has to figure out a way to do this for mine.

Due to the difficulty in properly achieving the draping, the folds will not be in the CRL's. I can appreciate Jester's point for uber accuracy, but also know what a pain it was to try to achieve this look and the cost with writing off a cloak after only one year of use.

I have the swaged neck on mine and really like the extra fullness it lends to it. As well as it looking more like in the movie. And was really surprised to find it wassnt required.
However it is kinda a pain in the that you need someone to fix your neck after putting on the bucket as the thing never seems to stay put. I can throw up some pics here when I get home if you like.

Really wanted to do this with my V 2 robes.... Went to a lot of effort to get other things as correct as possible, even the pike with rasp, but the robes let the overall costume down. If I get to making the V 2 again in the future (hopefully soon...), and someone gets it to work, I'll make sure to post up
