Helmet Supplier Reliability?

Hello,

I have been searching around for different helmet types for good prices. My budget is limited due to my wife never seeing Star Wars and thinking that I am a giant loser for being this involved, but I can live with that.

However, I did find a reasonably priced bucket from Star Fortress Productions, but the reviews of this supplier are all over the place, most of the complaints seem to be shipping times, and condition of equipment once it arrives. Personally I consider any equipment damage due to shipping to be the fault of the shipping service in most cases.

I am in no giant rush to get the helmet, so I guess my question would be, has anyone had any experience with this supplier, are the products of a quality make, and an acceptable standard for the costume requirements?

I would post the link to the helmet, but I am not sure on the forum policy in regards to posting outside supplier links.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Andrew

From all I have heard from fellow 501st members about this company is stay away from them. I do not think I have heard anything good about the company.

Dear lord, for the love of all that is evil.... STAY AWAY FROM STAR FORTRESS!!!

I won't say more on this subject as a simple google search can be very revealing on the problems people have had with this "company" (term used VERY loosly)

Haha, thank for the information, I will most definitely avoid them, I have come across another one for a reasonable price, I wouldn't mind someone taking a look at the advertisement for me, if that wouldn't be too much to ask.

I'm assuming a PM is the best format.

You can send me or Lucious the info or the helmet you are looking at if you'd like...

I have no first hand knowledge about SF's reliability, or their customer service. What I can say is that the pictures I've seen make the products look REALLY BAD. And honestly...I can deal with bad customer service so long as the product is top notch. PMs are always a great way to communicate about specifics.

So my line on a good helmet dried up, the person decided they didn't want to sell it last minute.

I've been looking for other places, but anything that seems to have reasonable prices looks a little shady, and if I ended up getting ripped off, the wife would put an end to trooping for me, haha.

So I guess my only option would be to just wait until I can come across another one.

Don't get discouraged.... the helmet is often the single hardest piece of this costume to track down for a lot of people. I know it took me almost 2 years to get my costume put together once I committed to actually doing it, and it's a continuous process of upgrades and changes and maintenance even once the costume has been completed.

I have seen that though the SA helmets do cost more, they are also more readily available than waiting for the Don Post helmets to show up for sale... just as some food for thought...

Hi,

Not sure what your budget is but I got mine for TPE, they are based in Australia but ship worldwide.

Cheers

Just a reminder to everyone, please DO NOT share contact information publicly. The last thing we want is our suppliers being shut down by LFL!
