Hello all,

I haven't had a lot of time to actually work on my ROTJ Royal Guard costume besides doing a lot of research and gathering the parts, but here is a quick update:

Collected all the items to start and finish my RG build. This includes patterns, fabric material for inner & outer robe and cloth gloves, all the components of the force pike, fiberglass RG helmet, red visor material, and the paints.

I am done with the outer robe, but still need to line it with the same burgundy velvet material that I will use for the inner robe.

I just got my helmet in the mail. This is what the package looked like when I got it :o

Luckily, the actual raw helmet was fine.

I need to fill in some of the pits and lighter fiberglass areas with bondo and smooth it, but overall I'm happy with the helmet.

Now that I have all the parts, I should be able to complete my Royal Guard costume fairly soon. I just need to stop further work on my other unfinished 501st costumes and concentrate on this one.

Very cool. You mean you didn't like the shipping box? LOL Mine came in very similar condition and I had a heard attack, but as you said, all was good. You've got a great start, and hopefully the weather is good in Cincy to get it done fairly soon :)

Good to see. I just ordered my helmet from him too. So glad to see that all ends well. :) I have to wait a few months though to get mine, but well worth the wait.

Another update: I was able to complete most of the inner robe.

Here is an in progress pic of me, "trying" to test fit the inner robe to determine hemming lengths for the sleeves and bottom of the robe. My daughter kept grabbing at it because it felt nice :)

I just need to complete the belt/sash and I can say my inner robe is complete.

A little heads up for those that are making their own inner or outer robe from velvet material. It gets pretty messy. Red and burgundy Velvet lint and fuzz gets every where and coats everything, including little girls :) The wife isn't too happy :(

yeah girls don't seem to get out of the "touchy costume". Many of guards have their own fan club groupies

Looks good

I actually got felt up by a state governor because my costume was "so soft".

Got an email from those guys and they say my helmet is done and will be shipping soon. How long did it take to get the helmet from them?

It took him 12 days after I paid to actually ship it. Once shipped (notified via e-mail) the helmet arrived in 9 days. So it took a total of 21 days (3 weeks) to get the helmet after payment.

Another update: I've primed the force pike components and will be writing a separate detailed tutorial on my force pike build. Homemade burgundy gloves are complete and will post pics of finished glove ASAP. I only took a picture of the pattern when I was making them.

Fiberglass helmet has a red visor (used a dark welding visor and red transparent plastic sheets).

I still need to complete the fiberglass helmet, but I do have a repainted Don Post Royal Guard Helmet that I will probably use until my fiberglass helmet is complete.

Sweet...I used a motorcycle helmet visor (a snap-in type) which I cut down. Worked great as well. Looking good!
