Got an email from Amazon today about a shoe sale (I don't even know how they know I'm looking for ROTJ boots...freaky!). First off...I'm 6'4" and wear size 13.5-14 US shoes (I'm not a small guy) so finding a pair of red boots has so far been uh...tricky. Would something like these work you think?

I think the 501st requires suede boots for approval, so that would make your search a bit more difficult because red suede boots are a dead fashon. I found a good source for tons of boots, but nothing in a size that large. Just hunt in odd places like Building 19, or salvation army for good finds. I have found a pair of imperial officer boots for $20 at a Building 19 before.

I spent some time at my cobbler yesterday. He told me what kind of boots the guards and Palpatine both wore. They are called a "wellington" or "Wellington Roper" They were roughed up with sandpaper (80grit) and dyed crimson for the guards, and Black for Palpatine.

Cost is around 60-300.00 a pair depending on where you get them. They are basically a cowboy work boot.

The real issue is that they are never seen in the movies and there is no way of knowing if what you see on display were from the movies (heck...they could be wearing sneakers for all we know). But the CRL states black square-toed leather, or crimson suede. Heck...in the back of my mind I'm thinking about a Vader in the far future and he wears black pointy so I couldn't buy them now and use them for both

I wonder if I'll ever find a pair of red suede boots for my giant clown feet
