Denuo Novo adjustment

I just received my Denuo Novo helmet today but it doesn't fit any further down than my eyebrows. Is there a way that I could use a heat gun and press out the cheeks just a tiny bit in order to get it on or would that cause problems for costume approval?

A friend at work suggested using a volleyball or basketball and putting it in deflated, heating up the area gently then slowly inflating the ball, this idea doesn't sound too bad, does anyone see any issues with this or have any thoughts?

I would prefer to stretch it rather than cut it down the back like I've seen in other posts, the color is exactly the same as my velvet fabric so if I can get away with stretching it somehow I could use any tips that you guys have, thank you.
