Material for Royal Guard ROTS

I'm doing research into making a royal guard costume from ROTS. Living in Perth, I don't have many options for soft material, especially velvet. Would either of these options work for the outer robe? I would be confirming that they are not crushed.

And would this work for the inner robe?

Hi! Sorry for the delayed reply.

Looking at the material for the outer robes, the word "stretch" velvet concerns me- the robes need to be similar to velvet curtains in theatres, so non-stretch and heavy. I remember buying just regular old velvet for mine. Mind you, its not the cheapest cut of fabric.

The inner robe material seems ok, as long as you use it for both lining and inner robe, per CRL. As always, best practice is to involve your GML as they will be making the on-the-ground decision for costumes. Hope that helps!

No stretch.
No stretch.
Velveteen is 100% cotton velvet.
Try searching for that.

Look for a cotton twill zero stretch for inner robe and lining. Not tablecloth fabric.
Velvet is not a cheap fabric. And it doesn’t stretch. If it’s stretchy, it’s a velour. And that’s not ok.
And you’ll need 8-10 meters of it depending on height and size. As you can only cut it and wear it all going the same direction.
Please do message. I’ll even try to help you find real velvet in Australia.
But please know, the fabric is costly. Luxurious, but costly. Image
