Force Unleashed: Shadow Royal Guard
Costume MUST have:

Helmet: Painted either in matte or gloss-finished, in a black shade that matches the outer robe, with a red visor that allows maximum visibility, but hides the wearer’s features.


Bodysuit: Bodysuit should be made to resemble that which is seen on the screen. There are no visible pockets on this bodysuit.


Body Armor: Body armor must be either matte or gloss black in color and consist of the following components:
Shoulder Bells: Shoulder bells must be shaped to mimic the visual reference and must have a duckbill style based on Storm Trooper shoulder bell.


Chest Plates: Chest plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference, based on a Storm trooper chest plate.


Back plate: Back plate must be shaped to mimic the visual reference. Based on a Storm Trooper back plate.


Abdominal Plates: Abdominal plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference.


*Note: All body armor components must be secured to the costumer’s bodysuit by either 1) harness/strapping system, 2) Velcro/Snaps, and cannot hang free.


Vambraces/Gauntlets: Vambraces/Gauntlets must be shaped to mimic the visual reference


Gloves: Black, leather or leather-like, enclosed fingered, non-textured, gauntlet length and fitted. No buckles, straps, decorative stitching, etc.


Belt: The belt should be constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material, approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width (up to 3" (76.s mm) is acceptable) To the right of the buckle (from the viewer's perspective), a single large snap or rivet should be visible about 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle.


Buckle: The buckle should be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. The size should be 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Canon buckles have a slight horizontal curve.
Buckles are adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.
*Costumebase/Costumebay buckles are NOT acceptable


Kama: Must match respected armor color, made of same material as the flight suit and outer robes. (Preferred: Velvet matching the outer robe on the outer layer of the Kama, inner layer of the Kama matching the bodysuit material.)


Leg Armor: Shin armor must be constructed with the same material and color as the armor and reflect the style of Jango Fett shins.



Boots: Calf or knee-high, black, lace-less, non-textured, leather or leather-like material. Rubber is not acceptable. English riding boots are preferred. (Jack boots are not acceptable)


Boot Armor:
Spats: to be done in the style of Jango boot armor.


Saberpike: Saberpike is to match the visual reference set by the Hyperspace diagram of the Shadow Guard weapon. MAUL sabers on a stick are not acceptable.

Since a few of these things have come up recently, and there really hasn't been any discussion yet, I thought I'd start. My comments are in RED.

I think we should decide on one or the other. You don't have matte or glossy TIE pilots or Gunners, they're all glossy. Personally I like the satin/matte finish.

Just seperated the visor from the helmet section.

Should also add that the body suit IS NOT skin-tight and should allow the wearer to move freely without being too baggy.

I would say "shaped and trimmed" here, since the bell will need to have the notches cut out of them.

The reasoning behind either as an option is cause of of the other vendors out there are doing a Gloss Finish of the guard helmet.

I was just saying to pick one because I think we should all be universal in paint finish. I guess if he's already selling them in gloss it's too late. Maybe we can say 'satin/matte' but grandfather the people that already have gloss?

OK. I was thinking about this while working on my templates. Getting them on comfortably without making the wrist opening too big would call for leaving one side open and velcroing it closed.

After lurking as a guest for a while, I have decided to make my presence known. I would like to submit my take on the CRL to the Detachment and see what they think.

I: A Force Unleashed Shadow Guard costume MUST have:

• Helmet: The helmet is a normal royal guard helmet painted in black with a gloss finish. The sides of the neck are also cut narrower than the royal guard helmet.



• Visor: A red visor that allows maximum visibility is installed in the helmet. It should be dark enough to hide the wearer’s features or have a mesh behind it to prevent outside observation of the wearer’s features.



• Bodysuit: The bodysuit is cut to fit like the normal Imperial crewman/pilot coverall, except that it has no pockets. It cannot be skin tight or too baggy.



• Gloves: Black, leather or leather-like, enclosed fingered, non-textured, gauntlet length and fitted. No buckles, straps, decorative stitching, etc.



• Belt: The belt should be constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material, approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width (up to 3" (76.s mm) is acceptable). Unlike the normal Imperial Duty Belts, there should be no silver snap or rivet to the right of the buckle. (although, a black one is acceptable).



• Buckle: The buckle should be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. The size should be 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Canon buckles have a slight horizontal curve.
Buckles are adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.



• Kama: The kama is attached under the belt around the back from the right to left seam. It extends to a length just below the back of the knee (touching the ground when on your knees). It must be made of the same material as the bodysuit.



• Boots: Calf or knee-high, black, lace-less, non-textured, leather or leather-like material. Rubber is not acceptable. English riding boots are preferred but jackboots are also acceptable.



• Lightsaber Pike: The lightsaber pike is a 5’ to 5’6” tall staff which is between 1” and 1.5” wide. It has three detail segments along its length with the top-most segment being an emitter. The lightsaber pike should be built to match the visual reference set by the Hyperspace diagram of the Shadow Guard weapon. Darth Maul sabers on a stick are not acceptable.



• Body Armor: The body armor is painted in black with a gloss finish similar to the helmet. Light weathering is acceptable. The Shadow Guard body armor is composed of the following components:

Shoulder Bells: The shoulder bells are based off of a modified Stormtrooper shoulder armor, except the center ridge is removed from them. The bottom part of the shoulder bells are trimmed into a ‘duck bill’ taper. The shoulder bells should be raised approximately ½” off the shoulder/arm (through shoulder pads on the underside of the bells). Finally, the shoulder bells appear to connect directly to the shoulder of the bodysuit and not to the armor strapping.


Chest Plate: The chest plate is a modified Stormtrooper chest plate. The modification is that the shoulders are trimmed to a narrower look. In addition, the bottom left and right sides are trimmed slightly to hang even with the lower edges of the back plate.


Back Plate: The back plate is a modified Stormtrooper back plate. The modification is that the shoulders are trimmed to a narrower look and the box is removed and made to look like a flat surface.


Abdominal Plate: The abdomibal plate fits under the belt and extends to under the chest plate. It extends 1” past the outside of the chest ridge. It has three raised plates; two 1” wide on the far sides and one in the center which is approximately 3” wide.


Vambraces/Gauntlets: The gauntlets should appear to be a single solid piece. They are tapered from the top to the bottom with a point on the front of the top. The rear is also tapered, but with not so much of an angle.


Shin Plates: The shin plates are flat on all three faces. The front narrows slightly from the top to the bottom. The sides cover to the mid-point of the leg. The bends are straight angles and the shin is not curved to the leg. It secures with two straps, one around the top of the leg and one around the bottom.


Boot Plates: The boot plates are molded around the boot from one side of the sole to the other. There are no visible straps (but it could be strapped under the boot).




II: A Force Unleashed Shadow Guard SHOULD have (but not required):

• Visor Light: A light should be installed around the visor to give it the appearance of a red glow.



• Belt: A pair of lines should be located along the top and bottom of the belt. These lines are divots in the leather, but still black in color.



• Lightsaber Pike Blade: A red blade should extend out of the end of the lightsaber. Ideally, the blade should only be 24”. However, a normal lightsaber blade length can also be used.



• Kama: The kama should have an outer layer of black velvet or velveteen matching the material of the outer robe. It will still have an inner layer identical to the material of the bodysuit.



• Outer Robes: Outer robes should be constructed of black velvet or velveteen; inner lining must be constructed of black cloth material (preferably identical to the bodysuit material). These robes are to be done in the Episode II style robes, with a slit up the middle of the back to the base of the helmet. For added effect, the robe can be worn wrapped around the arms and thrown over the shoulder according to the illustration.




III: A Force Unleashed Shadow Guard costume MAY have (but not required):

• Heavy Blaster Pistol: A DH-17 heavy blaster pistol with a black leather/synthetic leather holster. Holster should be standard “Imperial Issue.” The d20 SWRPG states that Shadow Guards carry "heavy blasters" in addition to their lightsaber pikes, similar to Royal Guards and Sovereign Protectors. The Crimson Empire comics depict the DH-17 as being the standard blaster carried.


• Comlink (encrypted, long-range [miniaturized], holo capability): This is a comlink similar to that carried by the clone commanders. It is located in a pouch on the belt. Alternatively, this belt pouch can be used to store business/trading cards. This is another d20 SWRPG listed piece of equipment carried by the Shadow Guard.


• Utility belt with medpac: This plastic box is clipped to the belt to carry medical supplies. However, it can carry emergency repair supplies or snacks. This is the final piece of equipment carried by the Shadow Guard in the d20 SWRPG.

I have a question about the colour. There are 3 colours possible : the black, the red and the blue...

For the blue what about the exact colour ? Do you have the number of the RAL colour to do an exact Senate Imperial Guard ?



I would like to do this guard and I would like that it will be accepted for a TK-Id.

I plan on buying a Don Post Helmet from this site for $89: http://www.fschobbies.com/scifi/starwar ... masks.html
Then making a mold and then make a new fiberglass one after I alter it.

Anyone know of any places to get it cheaper?
