Hey there guys, I'm a newbie here...been following you guys for a while and finially got off my bum and joined.

I've managed to get myself a fiberglassed bucket off a moulder on ebay and have his permission to copy it if I want to...He used to make lids and Vader armour to build up funding for is online bike store and now he's up and running.
Questions I have are ... and I don't want to step on anyones toes here so please forgive me .... how do I go about doing this as I've never moulded before, Am I allowed to do this without getting mister Lucas banging on my door with a trip to court, Oh and is it worth the trouble ;-)
By the way I don't plan on selling any I make to become a millionaire or anything such, just trying to boost our numbers a bit.

Anyway as I've said I hope no-one takes offence at this thread as I've tried posting in a local groups site and was promptly booted off without having a chance to tell them my story.

Cheers guys..look forward to hearing from you.
Pete

Recasting is a bit of a touchy subject in the Legion. Mainly from people who put hard work into something only to have someone rip it off for a profit. Assuming the person you bought yours from is the original caster, and you have their blessing...then there shouldn't be anyone to fault you.

As for Lucasfilm....my impression is that they tend to turn a blind eye to the casual custom armor making....after all the 501st wouldn't exist without it. It should still be kept rather discreet and mostly off boards. Anyone who is actively making a business out of producing replicas if Lucas patented designs will eventually gain the negative attention of Lucasfilm.

Thats about all I can comment....someone with more Legion experience can probably give you better and more detailed advice/info.

Cheer there mate...as I've said the original caster said I could carry on his work if I wanted to and I just wanted to make a few more lid available to guys looking for them...I know I had a hell of a time looking for mine and just wanted to help someothers out.

Skel hit it on the head. If you truly have the blessing of the guy who made the helmet to copy it for yourself then you're good to go. If you plan on making more copies and selling them you need to keep it discrete. Selling a few helmets on the boards is ok but don't start an ongoing run or you'll get in trouble with :emp:.
As far as the "how to" part, couldn't tell you what to do. I would recommend finding a local source for casting materials and see if the have classes. Otherwise, start searching YouTube.

That's cool! Nothing wrong with strength in numbers.
In my garrison we are in the process of building a Clone army using the molds a fellow member made to create his own Captain Rex.
