Hello,

Due to the great resources here, I've been lurking since February working on and off on a TR for my 12-year old daughter. Due to her age, and this being mostly for Halloween, I've cut a lot of corners but still want to make it look good.

I first built the force pike out of a ski pole. The tutorial for building it (the guy's name escapes me) ended up not being as accurate to the screen caps as I'd have liked. Good enough for her though I suppose.

Since no patterns seem to be readily available to sew your own, I ordered from Cosplaysky on eBay. I also ordered a Don Post TR from the 90's. I also researched and bought some cheap/decent boots. Here she is with the pike, helmet, boots, and cosplaysky.

That was taken in May.

Following Darth Dog's WIP and paint colors, I painted the helmet a brighter red.

And applied the clear.

So today I got back at it. I put mesh in for the visor so she doesn't have to worry about fogging while trick or treating, plus you can't see her eyes. My MIL donated an old velvet dress to be a little more canon than the first pick with the cosplaysky. I also sewed up the left side to hide her arm.

I'm going to try to get a better pic outside. Here it is on a dummy.

Questions....

Are there any patterns for the belt and outer robe that are readily available? There must be a few hundred TR's in the legion and everyone can't have bought theirs from CP. Also a pattern for the belt would be nice.

Next, where/who do we buy gloves from? The cosplaysky gloves are a shiny vinyl.

Lastly, if she does want to go 501st when she gets older, what do I have that she can keep and what needs to be changed? Off the top of my head, I think the helmet works with the proper visor installed. The boots. The pike. And maybe the velvet dress. But you'd be the experts on that.

Thanks for looking and any additional help. It's a great forum here that I haven't had to post a WIP until now. Lots of info!

You might be surprised how few patterns exist, especially for ROTJ.

The belt is a simple obi-sash with a small strip of the same material running the middle of it.

The inner robe is similar to a standard Thawb pattern, just a basic robe.

The Don Post helmet should be good to use. The color of the helmet should match as closely as possible the color of velvet you choose, so depending on how lucky you are at color-matching you may not need to repaint it. I bought my velvet and then used a pieces I cut off to color match, then painted my helmet.

For gloves, I had the seamstress make them from the leftover material from the inner robe. Took her a bit of work figuring it out as the velvet has very little stretch, but I like the way it turned out.

I hired a local seamstress to make mine, and she made up her own pattern based on the many many reference pictures I gave her, and the CRL requirements. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I've asked her if she would be willing to do up a pattern (check out my WiP if you want) and she is looking into how to go about that. Not sure how long it might take, but I'll keep you apprised if she gets back to me in a reasonably time frame.

For some reason the pictures aren't loading for me (it's a work thing, not a your-problem thing), but I can take a peek at them later.

You can use the helmet, the pike and the boots for your build. The Cosplay parts are only good for halloween. Sorry.
Try to get the warped out the helmet. Heating it up carefully and then form it back. It may be repainted afterwards.
But wait with painting it after you got your outer robe. So you can better match colors.

Thanks for the help!

Does anyone sell the gloves, or is it just find matching velvet to the inner robe and make a pattern?

I used the same color red as Darth Dog did. He used that red to match the color of the CP robes. I figured if she ever wanted to go 501 (in 6 years) we could buy the CP kit and her helmet would already match. :)

The gloves etc. come with the CP stuff. So does the sash.

I'll probably have to get matching velvet at Joanns or something. Any reference photos housed here for the gloves and the sash? I'll keep looking around.

Thanks a lot! I have a few photos of her wearing it, but they are indoor and not very good. I'll get some outdoor photos this weekend.

For Galactic Academy. That would be fine. But alot of work would need to be done to get it close to being approved. Robes are honestly totally cut wrong for ROTJ style.

Some of my submission pictures can be found here: http://s1078.photobucket.com/user/coold ... Submission

I won't say my costume is the gold standard, but I'm quite happy with the way it turned out (not that I'm biased right?). If there were any individual pieces you want close-up shots of, let me know and I should be able to do them this weekend.
