Nothing is more expensive with materials than velvet... its $45 a metre where I live! work that out when you need about 8 metres...

Well, I'll have to check the prices this weekend, figure out how much I need, and hopefully not have a heart attack somewhere in the middle there.

So, I'm 5' 8", how many yards total should I use?

I'm 6'2 and used 10m of fabric for each the inner lining and outer shell of the cloak... additional fabric for the inner robe, belt, etc

That would be the mild way of putting it... Basically when it's all said and done, you are wearing somewhere between 25-30m of fabric
