The CRL specifies the boots should be suede, so I do not think these would pass.

They need to be suede. You can also cover them in suede. But that may be more work than folks are wanting to do.

Unless you are looking to spend a chunk of change at Imperial Boots for some custom-made ones, which I did not, I had some success at AliExpress. I found a pair of them (the specific model I got is no longer available) for about $40 CAD (about $30 USD) with free shipping from China. Mine will require cutting some of the material off as they are over-the-knee boots, but that's pretty trivial to do.

Unless you get really lucky (or custom-made ones) you'll probably have to buy women's boots as there aren't many made for men that are: red suede, pointed toe, and over the ankle.

Glad to hear others are looking at women's red suede boots. I've been looking for some, but need a size 13 in mens. :(

Could try getting in contact with the vendor I used, they only go to size 13 women's but might be able to do a larger size.

Modifying them was quite easy, just cut and sewed them to the height I wanted (I went with mid-calf). My wife and seamstress both laughed a lot when I was wearing them with normal clothes, but both said they looked really good with the robes at the last fitting.

This is a very nice alternative to some other ones that run around $250. Are these going to pass 501st standards since you see so little of it?

I would say you would be ok on these as they are flat footed with a build in heel and suede.

Awesome, just ordered one. I'll have to find a way to get it trimmed because I doubt it'll fit over my thighs, lol

I took a pair of scissors and cut them to the height I wanted. Then I took a needle and thread and put a few loops around the top to keep the outer layer from flopping over. I'll take a photo of what I did with mine when I get home. I don't work with fabric at all, and it took about 3 minutes to cut and sew.
