Re: Under robe
I am also in Texas. We have two ROTJ guards in Houston who wear the velvet outer robes with inner lining and under robes of velvet. They also troop with fans in their helmets.Bjmatt wrote:is there away around using 3 layers of velvet for all of this i Live in TX and summer time events for me would be killer with all that warm fabric on

Re: Under robe
I'm one of the guards in Houston and I use two additional measures to keep cool when trooping. 1) I have a small gap where the visor sits, for air flow. The visor is attached through velcro on the left and right, with space around the rest of it. 2) I don't stop moving. The velvet can breathe a little when air is moving so I take long strides and let the outer robe billow a bit. It photographs well. I've trooped the triple-velvet in both Houston and Orlando in summer (though in Orlando I had a CamelBak hidden underneath).

Re: Under robe
The CRL says "burgundy or wine coloured cloth" for the inner robe. Does it have to velvet as well? I was under the impression that only the outer rode (and lining) needed to be velvet.Sascha_Wilsing wrote:Try to find thin Velvet for lining and underrobe.
Re: Under robe
Some of the parts of the CRL are a little contradictory.
The rest of the Inner Robe line says: "... Velvet/velveteen is recommended for this garment, but velour and crushed panne velvet will not be accepted." The velvet(een) is not optional at all for ROTJ from what I've been able to gather. Other episodes can use gabardine, for example.
Just like for the Force Pike: "Force Pike: 4' (122cm) minimum in length, silver in color with a black or silver pommel, two hand grips at the base, shaft, and screen-accurate emitter tip." But further down in the 'Force Pike SHOULD have' section it says: "'Rasp' emitter end of stacked ring design or serrated design in metallic copper, or silver, preferably constructed of turned plastic for screen-accuracy." But the stacked ring design is not acceptable, it needs to be the serrated rasp emitter for ROTJ as that's what's screen accurate.
I believe I read that there's a CRL update coming or starting soon that will hopefully clean up the inconsistencies. But I'm merely guessing from memory.

Re: Under robe
As written, the CRL allows for velveteen outer robes. Velveteen is much lighter and can get wet. The under robes are to be a "Burgundy or wine coloured cloth". I used a gabardine, which is lighter than velvet, but heavy enough to hang properly.Bjmatt wrote:is there away around using 3 layers of velvet for all of this i Live in TX and summer time events for me would be killer with all that warm fabric on
