Not a lot at the moment and no pictures, but figured I'd get my WIP thread started.

I've got my helmet ordered, from a member here on the forums. It'll be shipping out Monday morning Australian time, and the wait for shipping is going to near kill me.

Been sourcing out velvet material. I'm kind of partial to the velvet inner and outer robe, even if it runs hotter. Canada is a pretty lousy place for velvet prices. Most places want $26CAD/yard (about $18.35USD/yard) or more, so I'll likely be buying from the US where it's a much more reasonable $7-9USD/yard even after conversion. Still need to get measurements done up, and once I've calculated how much I'll need I'll be placing an order. Hopefully in the next week I'll get material ordered for the inner robe, sash, gloves, and inner lining for the outer robe. At $7.75/yard I may just get the crimson red outer robe velvet at the same time. I'm currently leaning against putting a split in the robe and wearing pants of the same material, as I think another layer on top of the three (outer robe, outer robe liner, and inner robe) seems like it'll be far too hot.

Been having a lot of problems trying to source red suede boots locally. Found boots in the area, but none were bigger than women's size 8 or 8.5. I'm personally shooting for suede red and I know I won't end up totally happy with the black ones, so I'm determined to find some.

Force Pike I'm on the fence for. Much cheaper to make your own, but I don't have a lot of tools. I'm more of a computer/tech geek, which only takes you so far when you don't have a dremel, drill, hand sander, etc.. Also a lack of workshop/garage space makes it much trickier. The cost to buy all the tools to make the force pike would likely total to more than just buying a pre-made collapsible force pike.

Anyways, that's as far as I've gotten so far... More to follow as I get ramped up.

Well I think I narrowed the fabric down.

Of course that assumes both of these are still acceptable. I found the Red outer fabric listed in the Costume Resources sub-forum http://forcepike.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=23 and they had a link directly to their burgundy velvet.

Would both of these be good to go?

Yes that vendor for fabric is a passable source.

For the Inner Robe/Gloves/Sash I'm looking at this instead for weight and breath-ability. Will this (from the same vendor) color be acceptable? It seems like it'll be a lot better for my comfort and easier to move around in.

That would be fine on the fabric for the inner robe.

Looking to start gathering the parts for my force pike, but I have one question. Is either the stacking ring design or the serrated design acceptable for a ROTJ force pike?

The stacking coil section is a Prequel design.

While waiting for my material and helmet to arrive and the seamstress I found to start work in February, I figured I'd start getting some work done on the Force Pike. It's going to be a variation of bdgr's pike from here: http://forcepike.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=720. I'm not sure if you can reference a person, but hopefully it'll do him somewhat proud.

Everything except the syringe was picked up from Lowe's Canada:

I did forget the black handle pieces, those will be picked up tomorrow and will probably be black PVC pipe that'll be held in place by the o-rings. All-in, except for the handles I forgot, came up to $35.15.

The table leg is nicely tapered, and has a foot end that will pop off nicely to allow for a spot to put the syringe tip. The wood for the dowel and table leg felt light enough as opposed to a hardwood feel. The leg has a pre-installed bolt, and a simple hole in the dowel and it'll be detachable. It'll take a bit of sanding to get it where I want it, but it'll be easier sanding than what I would have had to do to get the decoration of a cue out. The softer wood felt nice and light, even when I held both pieces in one hand in the current size it is.

I'm still not sure what to do for the serrated rasp. I don't have any tools to cut ABS, I've never worked with metal, and haven't done resin or any kind of casting before. I'll need to keep looking around for another way to come up with something.

Cut the check valve, and trimmed the rubber stop last night. Will need some minor sanding to smooth out the parts I cut, but the dry fit of the pommel pieces is looking pretty nice so far.

I may wait for the helmet to show up before I start working on the pole and fitting everything together. It's going to require cutting the wood to length, and I want to make sure I don't accidentally cut it too short or leave it 3 feet over my head.
