Dutch Royal Guard
Dutch Royal Guard
Hi all!
I've been working on an AOTC royal guard and now finally have some things, and some time to show progress to you all.
I'll also share where I found what so the next guy/girl can find it easily
The costume is meant for my partner. Having heard all the awesome stories of trooping as a TK he decided to join the Dutch Garrison as a Royal Guard. He choose the AOTC version because of the two arm slits. Very convenient
first up was finding a pattern for the actual cloak! But luckily that was already posted on the forum here

Next up was the bucket, but for that I got a great tip from our GML. this guy in Australia makes awesome helmet parts!

The boots were a little harder to find. Black Jack Boots are not easy to come by in the Netherlands, so we got them from the UK. Excellent quality for used boots.

And then of course the Force Pike. After a tip from a fellow Garrison Member I ordered a Force Pike Kit in Germany. Amazing product. Only need to paint te handgrips and such on the pommel.

I ordered the fabric from Dutch online shops and with the insights posted in Patricia's thread my mother in law (who does the sewing) figured out how exactly the font and back parts of the outer robe fit together

test pattern for the inner robe/thawb
test pattern for the outer robes
test fitting the inner robe
test fitting the back cloak part of the outer robe
more progress to come end of this week! Must have it finished by the end of the month so it can be approved in time for the TFA premiere on Dec 16th!

Welcome. Thanks for the WIP. Move on. Make it happen.
Re: Dutch Royal Guard
Spray painted the helmet with primer tonight, mainly to see if the surface was smooth or needed some patching... turns out is need some patching up. Will try that with the plaster spray tomorrow

Re: Dutch Royal Guard
First coat of paint on the helmet. Not quite happy with the end result color and shine so will go shopping for a different kind
The handle of the force pike is finished. spray painted it with special black paint, also used for bbqs and finished it with high glossy transparent floor finish
Robes are about finished. Its currently being seamed (?) about 1 inch above the floor
Gloves are also custom made of the same fabric as the inner robe
Almost finished!! Just in time for the TFA premiere

Re: Dutch Royal Guard
Wooo!! Congrats!!!! The shape of your outer is really perfect!!! Great job!!!
Re: Dutch Royal Guard
final fitting, a few small details to fix and it will be finished.
Added shoulder padding for shape will have to change the passing inside the helmet to make it rest on the shoulders.
I also repainted the helmet a shade darker red. Think it looks much better now not as orange as before
Will make and send approval pics this saturday!!
