Ready to start my new costume.
Bought an ABS helmet and eagerly awaits it's arrival.
I bought some boots, but they must have been manufacturing rejects because the size didn't match what it claimed at all.
I bought this new pair. I hope they are pointy enough. Thoughts?
I found some suede opera length gloves on eBay. I'll get those soon.
I'm planning to shop around for my velvet. I have a few preferred places to shop and will try them first. I'm planning to buy my inner robe fabric from Dharma Trading. They sell a super soft cotton velveteen that is undyed. I'll dye it to match my gloves.

If those boots are like they appear in the picture you should be good to go

Thank you Jester.
I have a few robe questions.
1) I would like to use the draping in front, but since it's not in three CRL currently is it acceptable?
2)I would like to use this pattern as a base for my outer robe. Is it required that I actually sew the left side closed or can I just never put my arm out on that side?

....or maybe I just switch to AOTC.

1. Using the draping in front is surely acceptable.
2. This AotC Pattern is not the same like a RotJ pattern.
They differ in the shoulder part and like you said they have two arm slits. Only one arm opening is allowed for the RotJ.

The draping should be just that, draping. It shouldn't be pleated and look like this when done:
This is bad

Thanks Jester.

I used to teach pattern drafting at a fashion design school. I'm good with the drafting and draping. Just wanted to make sure it was okay to have the draped front since it is flat on the CRL.

Thanks Sasha.

So much for shaving a few minutes off the front end.

I'll think I'll just draft from a basic circle and play with it to achieve the proper ROTJ silhouette.

New boots arrived last night and they are great! My helmet arrived today too, but I have to go to the post office to get it. Excited to get all the pieces together.

Pictures!!! I picked up my helmet today.

It looks great. I also received my fabric swatches today.
The ABS is so light. Im really happy i decided to get that instead of fiberglass. I think the fit is a bit tight, but I don't think I need to shim it . I even have a little room in front for a fan. I'm going to have to get some help from my garrison on building this though.
The boots are a pretty good fit. A tiny bit tight, but they stretch as I wear them. They were a lucky find on Etsy.
I am a bit undecided on the fabric. I think both reds I have are good ones, so I can't decide on which one I want to buy. One is a lipstick red with a little more blue to it. The other is straight red. I'm leaning toward the straight red as it's a little lighter and more lush in handfeel. I like the burgundy as it is. I'll probably make my gloves with it too so I do t have to worry about matching the color.

What do you guys think?
