So I already have the boots, which came out great ( http://i.imgur.com/wAmrTNg.jpg ), and the fabric for the inner robes just came in. Wanted a second opinion before I really buy it, so how does this look:

That is the same Burgundy Gabardine (from the same store) I used for my under robes, gloves, sash and outer robe lining. I love the stuff, it frays easy, but nothing unmanageable. You can see my WIP thread a couple down from yours.

Good luck with your build.

So, some bad luck apparently. I'm trying to order the Rubies helmet, but the last two online stores I've tried have claimed to have it in stock and them promptly cancelled my order or led me around for a week or two and then said they were out of stock and cancelled my order. Does anybody know where I can actually find one? Or were I can find a similarly sized kit or helmet that isn't the dp helmet?

Update: Called Rubies and they said Rubies itself is actually out of stock on the helmet and they don't know when they will be making more of them.

Hello again Eldresh,

There are a number of vendors that provide buckets. However; be mindful of size. Some run small, others large. The circumference of your head is incredibly important for these builds, as there is actually very little air flow in the bucket itself. There are strategies applied by many members to fix this issue (squirrel fan kits, portable AC units) that supply the air...but you will need space to fit these options in.

If you are a person with a small build and the bucket is too large, you will get a bobble head appearance. If you are a person with a larger build and the bucket is too small, you might not even to fit your head through it.

I am sure there are members that will reply to your question, asking you to PM them. They do this to protect the vendors and your privacy, but please understand that the Detachment does not get involved (just like our Legion) in recommending or vetting any vendors. Do your research and you will avoid many headaches.

Hope this helps.

Hi Eldresh,

Sorry to hear about the Rubies helmet situation. There are a few alternative options for helmets. Being kits, they require some more work to complete, but are still viable options.

V-cells speaks all things truth :)
Ideally you want a helmet that fits you nicely (not too large and not too small). If you had to error on one side, I think it is better to be a little too large then small. At least you should be able to put it on and can if necessary add padding or something under the upper section of the robes to help reduce the bobble head appearance. Of course you need to make sure your robes are hemmed correctly to compensate.

Best of luck on your ROTJ guard and I'm sure it will come out great.

I've heard a rumor that Sears might have some in stock so I plan on trying them, and yeah I know about the size thing. I'm very small, so I already plan to sew some shoulder pads into my robes to buff me up just a little bit. Bast Alpha's been very helpful too.

Another attempt at buying the Rubies helmet, and another failure. Contacted Sears, they said they had some in stock. Well, I ordered one and then it got cancelled (like my last 4 attempts at buying one) saying they were out of stock. Rubies still has no idea when they will be making more, but says they do have some on order. In the meanwhile, its looking like I might have to go with a different helmet. Anybody have some advice for a helmet for somebody on the shorter side, but with a normal sized (about 23' around) head? I know the detachment doesn't like to recommend any buckets, but the others I have been looking into are either likely to be way too large or too small. The Rubies was only a -little- bit too big on me.

I found a rubies on eBay, but I wanted to make sure it looked legit. Anybody want the link so they can see if it looks right?
