Outer robe pattern searching

Hey all. I've been looking for certain outer robe paterns through the forums and I stumbled upon a rough patern that Darth Skellington posted awhile back. I was wondering if this is a legit patern I could use in my construction. here it is

This is a very rough mockup. There are better ways of doing the outer robes based off of a cloak pattern (it's a simplicity if I remember correctly, late night and all that it is). Basically you extend the sleeves out as separate floor length panels, make the front a single piece instead of being split down the middle and you have 2 panels in the back. This gives lots of volume to the cloak and produces a screen accurate look to the shoulders.

Does the cloth on the sides on a proper outer robes flare as it reaches the bottom as in the patern?

This is a rough mockup of the pattern pieces. Dimensions are subject to the individual who makes the cloak. It is best if you can get a cloak pattern and modify it to match this diagram.

Modifications:

Front will be single piece instead of split into two pieces
"Sleeves" are opened up, extended to the same length as the rest of the cloak, bottom is curved to provide cloak volume
Back - is two pieces to again provide volume to the cloak, bottom is curved. Center seam is straight, outer seam to match up with sleeve piece is angled.

Correct... unless you are doing an RoTS style and then the back arm slits are also left open.

I've had the McCall's Pattern M5214 suggested though I've never used it:


You'd just extend the length on the parts is my understanding.

Hi guys...

Watching the photo of the royal guard AOTC... I think all pieces must be sewn except the back side of the arms pieces... The arms go outside from the back side of the arms pieces of the outer. NO?

The photo you have posted is a pre-production photo and was not actually used as the final version.

Cool. but the outer robe fabric seems to be different than the CRL. Is Velvet still a viable fabric for the outer robe, or do I use a fabric closer to the image, and if so what would it be.
