The detachment leader says on Facebook that the shoulders are to narrow now.

The post on facebook is a different helmet from this one. The helmet being discussed on facebook has even thinner almost non-existent shoulder flanges. This is why the helmet there has been deemed unapprovable.
This helmet that CJF has been working on is barely wide enough on the shoulder flanges to meet standards for visual reference and should ideally have been about 20% wider than it is. Both LT and I have discussed this at length regarding both helmets.

Then good luck when you post the pictures with the helmet and armor on.
Making this helmet is like fighting a rancor without power of the force.
My highest respect for the fine work and the good look of this helmet.
Very interested how this ends.

OK, This is probably going to end up being a display helmet anyway.
However, it would be a good idea if someone would post a helmet pict with measurements so someone else doesn't ruin their helmet by cutting too much.

Alot depends on which helmet you have. As different makers will have different ratio.

I finally had a chance to do some more work on this helmet. There is a lot more wrong with it than I thought, so it will definitely be for display only. That being said, it doesn't hurt to learn and work on different techniques.
So I needed to go back in and add the lip to the top edge of the visor area. Using a strip of abs and some JB weld, I filled it in and dremmeled and sanded it. The corners of the visor are too thin and cracked so I will have to leave it a little bit more rounded. Still have a lot more bond work to do, but it's getting there.
