Cuttin into the old DP

Post by Jarvis »

Iv'e had this Don Post recast for a few years now that never fit my head so today it has gone on the chopping block , I have a pretty large head and so far with the test fit everthing is looking pretty good .
My goal with this one is to build a RG helmet that fits larger heads while keeping it's original shape unlike the New rubies helmet that simply pulled the helmet out front to back without reshaping the curves .
Here's how it sits at the moment it should be finished in a week or so .
Anyone interested in Larger RG soon ?

Looking good so far! Will this be bigger than the Rubies when you are done with it?

Not as big as that helmet for sure , Closer to the size used in the movies .
I have a 24 inch head and it'll still fit me .

Here's some front and side views of my helmet and three others
Mines all grey
The one with visible body filler is an Argentina cast .
The Rubies
And a large black helmet that i narrowed side to side a few years ago .

Note the shape of my dome retains the correct shape instead of the stretch found in the others .

Here's a couple of pictures of another person with a 24 inch head standing 6 foot tall wrapped in a cape and wearing my helmet , He said it fit pretty snug but man it looked good on him .

I'm curious why you did all the work and yet left the visor the way it is. Give yourself some vision!

Side view added , The person wearing the helmet at the time had his head foreword thinking he couldn't breath .
I left the visor the way I did because it didn't make sense to cut the section out only to replace it for molding .
