ROTS Boots

Post by Romuloid »

So I have a wee bit of a question. I've already gotten my robes set up with CP and a friend and I are working on the helmet. The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting some of those fancy boots without having to break my bank too much. Is it acceptable to go with the black leather jack boots for a ROTS style? Would I still be able to be accepted into the 501st with the jack boots?

Here are the ones I'm looking at getting: http://www.amazon.com/Captain-Boots-Bla ... jack+boots

I have noted on the CRL that jack boots are acceptable due to the difficulty of finding the red boots, but I'm just double checking with you guys.

A lot of people use boots like that, I'd say you're good to go.

Awesome sauce! Makes me feel so much better knowing I won't have to stress over trying to find the pointed toe crimson boots.

The black boots you have posted will work, however I will caution you that because they are Halloween costume boots they will need extra care to keep them serviceable for an extended period of time. It's not impossible, but it does take more than what would be required with a $150 pair of jack boots.

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking to have these things forever. I'm just using them as a place holder until I can find a suitable pair of the red boots.

Mine are 4+ years old and they've held up just fine but I don't just throw them into the tote, I do take care of them.

How have you taken care of em? Like do you store them in a special place?

They are stored with my robes and helmet in a very large (50 gallon) Job Box. I just wipe the boots down with Clorox wipes every so often to keep anything from growing on them (as happened once after a baseball game) and they've been good ever since. Also guarding doors puts very little wear and tear on footwear.

I used these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_odkw ... &_from=R40

They are cheaper and made from real leather, very comfy.

I did find these red faux leather boots though (the bow just slips off {unless you want to keep it LOL}):

Those EBay boots don't come in my size sadly, but they do look nice. As for the red ones you showed me, I can say that that bow is very fabulous. I might actually go with those ones.
