Getting more length out of the outer robe

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advise on fixing up my Red Guard. I've had this for a little while now and got it pre-approved for a few troops. I bought it off a guy in the Mexican Garrison over the main 501st boards.

I think it generally looks pretty good, but besides needing the Obi and longer gloves, the main issue is it's a bit short.

so... i want to get the length down a bit, but there is really no space in the seams to let it out.

really not sure how to proceed with this, so i'm open to any suggestions.

Hey mate!

I had thought it was short at that Supanova convention, but sadly was at a loss for what to do, otherwise I would have suggested something. Hopefully some of the people here will be able to offer some suggestions :D

Anyway my main reason for posting is it's nice to see you active again! Keep checking in and show us how you go if a solution is found!

I wonder if you can open up the neck area to let it fall a bit more since it'll be covered by the helmet. Not sure if that would work at all.

I actually also thought of doing something like that, when I bought the outfit it came in a big sack that was made out of the same material so ive got a little to work with.
The only issue is that the "neckseal" that you can sort of see there is sewn on really nice and i'm hesitant to remove it. But considering the only other advice i've gotten is to scrap this whole thing and make a new one, i might be trying that soon.

Unfortunately there isn't really much for a seam allowance from the pictures you are showing. Opening up the seams on this may end up with the same result of scrapping it in the end and starting over.... ultimately that decision is yours. It's always easier to shorten than to lengthen, especially if there is no fabric to work with ;)
