I'm new to SW costuming so thought I would combine the ROTJ costume rules with my research posts. I have a background in historic costuming which goes so far to counting stitches per inch and I want to make sure I create a costume that will pass 501st requirements.
A ROTJ-Style Royal Guard costume MUST have:
• Helmet: Using Rubies Star Wars Adult Supreme Edition Imperial Guard Helmet.
Visor will be modded using magnets for ventilation and a mirror red face shield insert from here: http://www.footballvisorinsert.com/blog/
• Force Pike: 4' : On hold; no research done yet. (Help?)
• Outer Cloak: Constructed of crimson red velvet or velveteen,
Pattern Research: Check fabric width on patterns!
• A pleat at each shoulder of the outer cloak that allows for the ‘drape’ as seen on screen. Where???
Fabric Research:

http://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/sil ... abric.html (45" wide, will need dyed)
Dye source: http://www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharm ... =dyes.html
http://www.syfabrics.com/View.aspx/Plus ... et/689/264 (Cheapest...want to see a swatch)
**Silk velvet has silk base, with rayon pile. Non-shiny, will breathe!
Lining: matte lining fabric; match inner robe color. Linen?
• Inner Robe:
Fabric research:
http://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/cot ... -inch.html 55" wide; will need dyed.
Have cotton velveteen from Joann Fabrics in stash. Might be too dark? Send swatch.
Will make pants with outer robe lining.
Pattern: Instructions here on Forcepike.
Neck Seal: standard pattern
• Sash: A Jedi-style waist sash, 3-4†same fabric as inner robe.
• A burgundy rope-belt that wraps around the sash a minimum of two times and ties out of view. Is this different from the sash? Or really rope? I don't see this in the reference photos.
• Boots: Crimson red suede boots, pointed toe or black Jack boots

• Gloves: Burgundy or dark purple cloth or suede gloves
