SASH & CRLS + PICS

Post by toylander »

HI Neewbee here, i have been studying the crls and the forum post's.
In the CRL it states that the obi type sash is 3-4 inch's tall/wide. In the costuming pics it appears bigger and or not the same as the reference picture....?

Some guidance please

James

A persons personal height can cause that Illusion. What looks one way on a guard who is 4'11 would look different than a guard who is 6'4. The center strip is 1 inch wide while the wider one is 3 to 4 inches depending on the persons height ratio.

As LT said, the parts are all dependant on the size of the individual. Something sized to fit someone 4'11" will look skinny or mis-sized for someone 6'3". Similarly, something sized for a skinnier person will look off on someone more robust in size.

Thanks guy's but Still as clear as mud, just looked at the CRL picture again,
think I've got it now but just to recap, the sash is made up of 3 bands, the Top band 3 or 4 inch's, the Middle band 1 inch and the bottom band 3 or 4 inch's to mirror the top band.

At 6ft 1 I'm guessing at an overall width of 7 to 8 inch's

Not quite. The whole sash should be 3-4 inches wide with the middle part being centered. For someone 6'1" I would say the sash should be approx. a total of 5" wide with the middle section being centered.

Thanks, Got it down and noted;

The Sash is made from the same material as the inner robe: Check Y/N

The lining of the outer robe is
a) the same as the inner robe
b) can be burgundy ? is the inner robe and sash then burgundy? ??
c) can be dark purple ? again is the inner robe and sash the dark purple

sorry if this makes me sound stupid i am finding the CRLS some what confusing
i just want to make it an accurate costume

again thanks James

Y
a+b, with a modifier of "should be burgundy"

Stripes, correct me if I'm wrong.

Not so much a modifier, but burgundy (or more specifically a deep wine colour) is more accurate than a dark purple. If you have questions on a fabric colour, ask for a swatch or take a picture in natural lighting and post it up for us to see.

Yes, the sash and cloak lining are the same material as your inner robes.

Always best to ask lots of questions so you don't get to the approval stage and get sent back to the drawing board.

Remember...this is what the detachments are for...we're crazy enough to know a bit too much about these costumes so you asking questions isn't a bad thing AT ALL.

Hi all,

I understand that the sash should be the same as the inner robe, but what material should make up the central band?

Thanks
Kevin
