So the epic adventure of sourcing boots, gloves robes is closing to a near completion with all pieces purchased,next is changing the visor material and the robes final fitting should be soon.
I would like to hear peoples ideas and experience with shoulder padding, to take the weight of about 10 metres of Velvet ( I am doing velvet outer and lining) and spread the weight to my shoulder. Being ex-army I am used to weight transfer the the shoulders.
I am keen to here your thoughts and ideas, as I also don't want to have the look of armour under the robes.

That being said...I don't personally use shoulder pads, but a Garrison-mate does. It's a personal thing. He likes the look, I'm not that interested. I've never considered it for weight distribution to be honest. I'm so much more concerned about the heat and breathing than the weight of the robes

I also don't use shoulder pads or anything for weight distribution. I have some fabric shoulder padding to help define the contours of the shoulders a bit more but that is more of an aesthetics thing for me. My robes are velveteen and are heavier than straight up velvet ones (ask MagnePrime if you don't believe me).

Heat is definitely more of an issue that the weight IMO.

thank you guys for that, some padding for the shoulder pads for aesthetics is what it shall be. While I have your attention, by the time my outfit is ready we will be coming into the spring here, what is the best way to keep air in the helmet fresh, ie a fan not just pushing around my old air.

I use fans in my helmet and yes, you're recycling a lot of the same old air BUT I've got a space under my visor where air can get in/out and I move my shoulders around to create openings at times to get air flowing.

That is a great tip regards the air gap, tomorrow I am putting in a dark lense and I am thinking of putting some washers between the helmet and the visor to assist air flow.

If you held a coin to my visor and let go it would slip into the helmet...that's the kind of space we're talking about. It can only been seen if viewed from the top looking down. Seeing as I'm 6'4" you'd have to be a good 7' to see it and you'd have to actively be searching.

I mounted small magnets inside my bucket, and the just sandwich the lens in place with a second set. Keeps the visor in place, gives a few mm spacer for air, and easily removable for cleaning off nose prints.

What a great idea Exar, great idea and simple to clean etc.. Will look at that idea and let you know.
