Build Order

I have a question about the build order for the AOTC guard costume.

The helmet comes before the outer part of the outer robe, but the inside of the outer robe has to follow the inner robe. And the gloves are going to be tricky to find in the right color. So the gloves should come before the inner robe so I can match the gloves to the inner robes and then the outer robes need to follow the helmet being completed. So gloves and helmet, then inner robes followed by the outer robes?

Or would it be difficult/501st-approved to use the same material to make the gloves and save me the hassle of trying to find the right gloves? (Is it hard to make gloves?) That would make the build order a LOT simpler (in my mind at least).

So any input from the Royal Guards would be much appreciated!

As I posted in your other thread, gloves will be hard to come by.... your best bet is to get some fabric swatches an try to get as close to a match as possible. Making gloves is definitely not an easy task, even for experienced seamstresses/tailors... so if you decide to go this route, please be aware that it is not something to be taken lightly or thought of as an amateur level of sewing experience being sufficient.

I forgot to follow up here. I got my gloves and ordered some sample swatches in velvet and velveteen for the inner and outer robes. Those should get here within a couple days now, and after they get here, it's time to raid the local fabric stores!

I got a sizable tax refund from the big bad government that practically pays for a helmet! So I'm doing a little research on the different styles and calculating shipping costs and stuff. But I'm getting so amped to get this all together!

I did have a question on boots now: Would these boots be acceptable? they fit the CRL, but aren't as high as jack boots would be... that worries me, but at the same time, they pass by CRL's (unless I'm overlooking something...)

The sole of the boot should be flat with a minimal heel.

These sadly are ridged and will not be acceptable

Dang, the CRL didn't mention flat-soled. Minimal heel, but nothing about flat-soled. Good thing there are other boots out there. Here was option number two from the same source

That is essentially a german jack boot style, this would be acceptable
