Will these boots work?

I've been looking for relatively inexpensive boots and came across these:

http://www.payless.com/store/product/de ... ame=Womens

Will these work? Would I need to remove the buckles and straps?

On the same subject, are these boots acceptable? They're a bit large in the calf but I might look into having them trimmed. I got them off of ebay. I know they're not pointy, but they were a low-investment option to start with.

To be acceptable the buckles and straps have to go on these... and that's assuming that they will fit you and be comfortable to wear... keep in mind you'll be on your feet for hours at certain events...

Not 100% sure but these almost look like red superman/pirate type boots (not approvable)... what sort of material are they? can you take better pictures?

They are faux-suede material. If they are too piratey can I modify them to be tighter, or should I just discount them entirely?

The tops really shouldn't matter since they will be hidden by the inner robe. They look acceptable to me.

Oh yay! :D I was fully expecting to have to begin the search again. I still might make the calves smaller, there is a lot of extra material there.

I going to go to Payless tomorrow and try on the boots to see how they feel and to check out if they can be modified easily. I wear a women's 12 (I have big feet for a girl) and am having trouble finding anything reasonably priced that's in my size.
