For modifying the Don Post helmet, adding the extras for a Crimson Empire helmet, as well as painting, padding, speakers, fans, etc.

I am looking at both Don Post and Altmanns or is there any others that are good.

Helmet selection will all depend on how large your head is. A Don Post/Altmans helmet is on the smaller side. There are some other available options that are larger in size as well.

Do you know any internal dimension of these helmets?

I am looking at Don Post. Is that helmet Hood enough to be aproved at the 501ST.

The Don Post is approvable, but it does require work to get it to that point. I spent a good month modifying and repainting the one I use for my guard.

I was fortunate and got the larger of the Don Post helmets and a friend of mine has the smaller version (which is fortunate because we both fit our helmets). It does take some work, but it's a great helmet... As long as you're not claustrophobic and can control your breathing. I guess that's an issue with any of the helmets. My head is longer front to back and the larger Don Post fits me perfectly. I have never seen any of the custom made helmets, so I can't say anything there.

ok, does anyone know what kind of modifications you need to do besides repainting?

what color should it be on it?

You'll need to cut out the visor area, mount a new visit, fill in the stamp on the back...

As for the color, you want it to match the color of your outer cloak.

We went to a motorcycle paint shop. They matched the paint to the robe material and added a flex agent so the paint wouldn't crack if the helmet warped or got bent.

Do you know the measure of the hole for the eyes?
yes I realized that it needed a flexibel product for this helmet.

it will be really fun to try to get to a 501st approved costume.
