Breastplate

Post by Commander George »

Dear all,

Would you mind sharing some pointers on how to go about the Carnor Jax breastplate? Vacuuforming seems like the obvious choice, but I'd like to know if anyone has taken a different route. :trsuit:

Cheers!

Fellow Protectors,

For your viewing pleasure (and opinions), here are some pics of chest armour (at least the abdominal plates) kindly custom-made in fiberglass by a fellow Mexican TR.

Cheers!

Looks pretty good. :) To be honest, in their natural fibre-glass color, it's hard to make out any real details, like symetry, etc. Seems good though.

Yes, I am probaby the only one in the world that took a different take on the ole breastplate. I went ahead and wore my Crimson Warrior costume to Celebration III and I only saw one of other similar costume. We were the only two that I knew of. Now it seems to be a very popular thing to make. The other guy, you know who you are, did the vacuum forming which looked pretty good. I have a great photo of him. Mine was done with rubber though. Two rubber welcome mats to be exact. I cut them up so I have a multilayer, multiridge look that I think is very acurate with the comic book. After applying them to a harness I painted them with several coats of paint and sealant. You be the judge but this is what I still wear when I want to be Kir Kanos and have lots of freedom of movement.

That looks pretty good, I like the rubber allowing for more movement and contour, good stuff bro!

Yes, I agree. I'll post more pics as soon as they're properly sanded and painted.

As for Marshall's pic, that rubber breastplate looks great! Good idea! :trsuit:

Okay, so my breastplate hasn´t been sanded and painted yet (it's still in the hands of the local armourer who's making it for me) but here are a few pics just to show you how it's coming along.

Cheers!
